Daisy flower for innocence and loyal love, purity, I prefer the twist, it would be my favourite.

Feathers are for guardian angels [Sorry but I am not liking that one]
Lily can mean False and gay, Pride, Majesty, Wealth. [Very pretty]
Meadow grass Domestic symbol

oooh,thankyou,i love knowing the meaningsSmile

i was leaning toward either the posy twist or the tiny butterfly twig...

I really like the posy twist but I'd worry that it wouldnt be that comfortable to wear long term - it looks like it has bits that might rub. I'm not very tolerant with jewelry though.

The lily one is lovely too.

If it were me I would use one as an engagement ring and the other as a wedding band,
Japanese culture believe that if a butterfly comes and lands on a bamboo screen in a guest room your loved one is coming to you, They also believe that butterflies are the personification of a persons soul.

we are having wooden wedding rings made a bit like this mine will be slimmer though...

Yay, I love Alex Monroe. I strongly suggest going to see them in real life it will help you decide.

I love, love, love this one.

Another option is to look at some vintage rings, I know Bath is good for antique jewellery but don't know where you are. A good friend has a non-traditional engagement ring that is a 30s dress ring and I do covet it. Sure some MN people might be able to recommend a good place near to where you are.

Tiny butterfly twig will catch on things imo and you'll find it annoying to wear everyday, imagine it catching on e.g. hair, knitwear/clothing, bags all the time. Double Lily might be similar but that's why it would be good to try. What you would put up with for an occasional wear ring is different to what you would cope with everyday - same with e.g. a massive diamond, I think it would get in my way quite a bit.

I really like the posy twist and the meadowgrass too.

Also meant to add, you should look at some of the rings with the 18k solid gold option as opposed to plate as if you are wearing it daily the plate will eventually wear off. The fine twig ring you linked to is lovely and also has the 18k option. I seriously wouldn't go for gold plate for an engagement ring, only because I think you may end up disappointed if it doesn't last - you can have it re-plated of course but better to spend the money in the first place in my opinion.

Sorry if that is too much information, I'm obviously a jewellery geek and getting enthusiastic after a couple of glasses of Wine.

Your wedding rings are beautiful!

Again though, unless you're planning to wear the engagement ring on another finger (which you could of course - why not?) I think anything that didn't lie perfectly smooth against the wooden ring might rub and damage it.

FriggsFlyingFalconFeathers · 24/11/2011 10:23

thankyou for all the info...
i've been meaning to look at vintage, but i just dont have the time, DP works 6 days a week,DD goes to preschool almost every day(it takes me an hour to walk there and back) and i dont drive,so anywhere i would go would be a whole day thing,i really dont fancy dragging a 3 year old and a 1 year old on an hours bus ride to go ring shopping!

as for the gold plating TBH i will most likely get the silver option anyway,i dont really like gold weirdo

i will probably swap the engagement ring to my right hand once im wearing the wedding ring, but that wont be for at least 2 years,so i want a lovely ring in the meantime Grin

oh! i still cant decide!

Oh good, love the idea of silver. I went on the site again and noticed that it does say that any design can be made in solid gold if that was what you decided.

Also saw these: heritage collection, which are all solid gold. You could have heritage ring 4 as you wedding band and one of the others for the engagement - they are designed to fit together.

You should give them a call - their Customer Service is fabulous. They will advise on durability and meaning.

FWIW, I'd get something from their Trunk Show - they are genuine one-off pieces. I love the idea of a unique engagement ring that is just yours. My ER is from the 30's and I adore it's uniqueness.

Lizzylou · 24/11/2011 16:32

I love the lilies one!
Have just emailed link to DH in the hope that him feeling ill and away down in the big smoke for a few days may make him want to treat me...

I'll probably just get the shower cap and soap from the hotel room as per though Hmm

culturevulture · 24/11/2011 16:43

I also don't wear gold and really like the meadowgrass ring (only in silver though)
