Would have posted this in AIBU but then twould have turned into fight club...'That's so insensitive, I can't afford clothes...you shouldn't be buying clothes to last a few months, just live in a sack and then you can spend it all on reusable nappies...'

For the first bit, trailed round Mamas and Papas wondering why I had to regress and dress like a 70s child...but have just got loads of nice branded stuff from eBay on the cheap and I love it!

Am already so big have given up disguising it, so all quite figure hugging. But a) bl**dy love my boobs at the moment, I'd fancy me, frankly and b) having a bump means you don't have to worry about your tummy hanging out! Had a huge high today because was at a work meeting in just a black suit and white shirt but everyone said how nice I looked. Which amply made up for the fact had just vommed my guts out moments before...

Only thing - well, three - missing:

Bras - am now huge. Got fitted in M&S and they're Granny bras which means you can't have a neckline that's, well, below your neck without it showing. Suggestions? Am now 36E (was 32D, so this is a bit of a change and am wondering whether the lady got it wrong, surely your cup size goes up, not the back size?)

White vesty/tank top with support to layer under clothes - have tried all the usual online brands and they're sold out plus because it's effectively a bra, not the kind of thing I'd want to get off eBay

Swimsuit. Do I just buy bigger sizes of the normal, or..? I really want to do some gentle swimming at the weekends but have nothing to wear and I think they might be a bit shocked if I turned up nude...

Top tips warmly welcomed.

I am still wearin normal bras at 39 weeks just much bigger, tank tops i have bought a few isabella oliver and they're great although i have also layered them with H&M cheapie ones as i find them a bit see through around the belly and i got some really nice plain swimsuit in the saless from topshop.

vests
this swimsuit in navy was a tenner in the sale which i would imagine is coming up again.

youtalkintome · 23/11/2011 21:26

Oh and i would steer clear of M&S for maternity bras they haven't a clue.

stinkingbishop · 23/11/2011 22:02

Yo you...so normal bras as in still underwired and stuff? I got SUCH a talking to from the M&S lady that now convinced normal bras would kill me, so that's good to know. When I've tried on 36E from anywhere else they haven't fitted at all, and don't have time to traipse round stores...maybe I'll just find an online place that does free returns and order lots of size combos.

Tanks - Isabella Oliver have no white ones left...were the H&M ones just normal vests or do they have support too? And was the TS swimsuit normal or maternity?

Sorry Ms 39 weeks, you have far better things to do than answer my questions! Go pack your bag of snacks now! And do you have Hello AND OK AND Heat? And a special 'midwife, bl**dy listen to me, this baby is coming, desist with your cup of tea' badge?

Good luck!

Swimsuits - you can get specific maternity ones - Mine was a Speedo and have had one from Next. Jojomamanbebe also do them.

Vests - Jojo have some white ones, but only in a medium on line, althpugh possibly more in shops here.

M&S rubbish for measuring maternity bra sizes. Your back size will go up though, when the baby gets big enough to push your rib cage apart. Then down again as the baby starts to engage.

youtalkintome · 23/11/2011 22:13

The worst thing is i actually don't i'm so bored answering S&B questions is a pleasure. Io have been great but see through around my protruding belly button I would imagine they'll do some more soon because they're always in their collection. The h&m ones don't have the shelf but are cheap so worth getting a few anyway.

Yep normal underwire bra has been fine, so long at the wire is on your chest and not your breast IYSWIM then I think it's fine,

Oh BTW can recommend asos for maternity stuff have loved it this time around will be sad to see some of it go.

stinkingbishop · 23/11/2011 22:22

Thank you both. bike so my ribs are moving apart? new information! am expecting twins so that's probably exacerbating...seriously bit worried though as I broke 3 ribs a couple of years ago which didn't heal properly...guess I should mention this to midwife...I should have paid closer attention to anatomy in school...

bollocks to maternity bras IMO. Why would anyone want to wear their tits as a belt? That includes feeding bras too. I'm due with my 3rd and wore underwiring throughout all pregnancies and nearly 3 yrs of breastfeeding. Could be no coincidence that my tits are still pretty much where they were before children.

Maybe we should have a Burn Your Maternity Bras march...

Right. Tis decided. Will go to Bravissimo at the weekend and see a proper boob expert.

I am still fretting about this ribs news though!!!
