Nice dressing up clothes for DD

dairymoo · 22/11/2011 22:24

My 4yo DD would like a princess dress and a few other dressing up bits for Christmas. We have a one or two of the polyester Disney dresses but I'd really like to get her something a little nicer, well, maybe just made of nicer material. Are there any companies out there that sell this kind of thing?

(I know I could try and make something myself but I'm not sure it'd be up to standard!) TIA Smile

There are, but brace yourself for the prices...

Scandinavian

also for wearing in real life!

dairymoo · 22/11/2011 22:36

That second one is just the kind of thing I'm after....but the price! ShockThanks though!

Frillylily.co.uk do some lovely stuff. The Arabella princess dress?

Sleepwhenidie · 22/11/2011 22:44

The clothes on that website are beautiful..but the level of anxiety I would experience anytime DD wore them would destroy the pleasure I think Smile...best treat yourself to something at that price, safe in the knowledge you are unlikely to get paint on it or outgrow it in 6 months time Grin

i think i saw some nice ones on notonthehighst.com

dontforget2scream · 22/11/2011 22:47

Travis Designs?

budgieshell · 22/11/2011 22:57

Have you tried Ebay?

timidviper · 22/11/2011 22:59

Do you live near any asian dress shops? When DD was little I got some beautiful sari pieces in sales that were so cheap it didn't matter if I messed up making something out of them

I saw some amazing quality princess dresses in TK Maxx over the summer, a world away from the Disney nylon ones, I think they were about 30 or 40 quid ( of course the problem there is that you might never find them in store again but it might be worth a look ) .

The sizing is quite generous on the Frilly Lily stuff so likely to fit for a year or so.

My daughter has had good value for money out of her fairy princess dress. She has worn it loads at home and to a number of parties.

Charlie crow do decent dressups. I have a frilly Lilly ladybird dress off eBay for dd and it's fab but completely impractical!

Try charity shops for bridesmaids dresses.

bettybattleaxe · 23/11/2011 13:06

Lucy Locket dresses are usually slightly nicer than the standard ones.

Mystical fairies sell a good range.

Thanks all - loads of links to check! Smile
Will let you know what I go for...
