Best foundation for 40 something skin that gives a nice youthful "dewy" look?

I usually use Cliniques 'Almost makeup' which I love as it's nice and light and natural looking. I need something for the evening with a little more coverage but don't want it to look cakey . I've got reasonable skin which tends to be dry , oh and some lovely large open pores around the T zone. I want something that is fresh looking. I've heard good things about Chanel vitalumiere - anyone know if it's all it's cracked up to be? Thanks ladies , please advise in an orderly queue!

Bare Escentuals foundation is the wonder product you need. Especially on top of their primer (also a wonder product.)

Lovely natural look, enough coverage and the only foundation I've used that takes years off you and makes you look healthy.

I agree with Bare Minerals BUT orange ladies ime aren't good at colour matching - get some tester pots and try them at home. I am a completely different colour than the orange lady insisted I was in Debenhams.

I agree with you Valium. While I was on a business trip to the States, I was lucky enough to have a Bare Escentuals employee find my colour and show me how to use their products. She was absolutely brilliant and worlds apart from the 'consultants' in our stores over here.

Now I have found my proper colour I am hooked!

I really wouldnt look any further the Vitalumiere. Ive been using it for a few years now and wouldnt use anything else, I love it. Its light but still covers pores and makes skin look really smooth and gives that dewy look that youre after. I tried bare escentuals on the back of all the rave reviews just out of interest and absolutely hated it. Found it cakey, stripped all the colour out of my face and made me look about 5 years older!

I agree with bare escentuals - I've recently become a convert to this. It lasts all day and I don't go shiny with it.

Vitelumiere makes me look greasy and oily (but I have a tendency to that anyway, which it sounds as though you don't).

I also like Laura Mercier's tinted moisturiser.

I also quite like the dior stuff (can't remember what it's called) but it is a heavier foundation and I could definitely feel it on my skin.

I was thinking of trying bourjois. I don't usually wear much foundation. Am 43 but had acne for years and am just happy to have clear skin! But am at a school reunion on Saturday so need to look as good as possible Wink

So basically that narrows the choice down to about 8! Samples here I come ... Oh, today got LMercier face primer and it's lovely! Tightens skin slightly and my usual Clinique almost makeup looks better.Grin
