Hi, I used to work for elemis and in event of someone reacting I would recommend removing all products on the skin and bathing in cool water. Is it itchy?

barbie1 · 21/11/2011 15:23

Whoops, just seen that it is itchy...try to avoid anything on the skin for the time being, keep it cool with a clean flannel.
How far from the spa are you? Can you go back, elemis do a lovely calming mask that I would apply made someone could put it on for you or give you a sample to do at home?

thank you... i can't go back; dh were at a nice hotel and spa for the weekend. i will try the flannel. i've not put anything on. they gave me sos emergency relief cream which i applied last night but it made no difference.. in fact it might've got worse. sigh. it was a nice facial... while it last. then this, which has never happened before with any other products.

thanks for replying!

I would at least ring them and ask to speak to a therapist. I don't know which facial you had as there are many. The therapist might suggest something extra which would help soothe the skin.

Hope your skin returns to normal soon

Go to your gp, see if you can have prescription strength anti-histamines, over the counter ones deal with itching but wont take the redness away.

Dont worry they wont make you drowsy.

My point exactly. Anyone who puts that sort of muck on their skin needs their head looking at.

Just to throw a different slant on this- could you be having a reaction to something else that you came into contact with at the spa hotel?

I have really sensitive skin and have used the more gentle Elemis products and not had a reaction. However, chlorine in swimming pools, stream in steam room, heat in sauna and bromide in jacuzzi all play havoc with my face and hands!!
