Scraggy/Turkey neck

Over the past year i have noticed that my neck is scraggily. I'm 45 and have good skin and a youthful face (people often think I'm years younger than my age) but my neck lets me down. My neck is long and overall i'm slim but i'm not skinny and I havent had any dramatic weightloss that could have caused this.

Apart from a neck lift, has anybody got any recommendations for me.

I'm too young for turkey neck!!

BUMP!
Im interested too.... same age (44) and good skin but recently have noticed lines on my neck. I am carrying probably 20 pounds more than I should so it is mostly a texture/wrinkle thing rather than skin looseness.

Hij pocket, thanks for responding. Mine is like slightly puckered skin where my adam's apple would be if i was a man. Its not wrinkly and its not all the time - some positions my neck seems fine and in others i can see it puckering.

When i'm not in front of a mirror i imagine the skin looks like socks falling down!

Hope somebody comes by with some ideas.

I've got the same thing. A double chin, then if I suck it in, turkey neck. What a choice. I occasionally do some facial exercises - when I remember - to try and alleviate the double chin, and am hoping they may magically lift my neck up too.

I think it will be sun aging, we put make up on our faces which offers some spf, the neck gets left out.

Look at women news readers, presenters etc and you will see what I mean, the face always looks better than the face.

Laser treatment? acid peels? micro dermabrasion? polo necks?

bigTillyMint · 21/11/2011 15:33

I have a turkey neck too. Or as DS lovingly calls it, a "froggy"Grin

pocketandsweet · 21/11/2011 15:39

I'm sure it's sun too. pre children career as an archaeologist in Greece and Italy meant misspent youth(?) with too much sun. I guess I should have figured ten years of lovely sunshine would catch up eventually. If anyone has neck exercise success story let us know.

bigTillyMint · 21/11/2011 15:47

Misspent youth and sun sounds about itBlush

pocketandsweet · 21/11/2011 15:53

Actually didn't misspend as much as probably should have with hindsight :) but definitely too much sun.

Fraxel laser treatment is the only way to get rid of it I think - poss even ipl.
You could give bio oil or Mama Mio neckercise a go - you might see a little improvement - but nothing drastic.

bigTillyMint · 21/11/2011 17:29

TracyK, is that - laser treatment - for a wrinkly neck? I can't see how it would get rid of my froggyGrin

TracyK · 21/11/2011 17:52

It will resurface any lines, pigmentation etc, tighten up any slackness and also stimulate your own collagen production so will thicken and plump skin too. Mind you I think it is quite stingy. Google some before and after pics- they are quite impressive!

noddyholder · 21/11/2011 18:01

I think this is hereditary.

TracyK · 21/11/2011 18:09

hmm might need surgery www.realself.com/question/will-fraxel-repair-tighten-loose-neck-skin

bigTillyMint · 21/11/2011 21:13

Biddy, you could be right but my mums is more of a double chin whilst mine is flappy!

jbg · 22/11/2011 12:40

Thanks for all replies.

I don't really have a double chin, my skin in the upper part of my neck, under chin, is a bit crepey depending on how i hold my neck.

I hate this crepiness. I think i'm going to start eating half an avocado a day, like i used to, and more salmon.

Do you think Rosehip oil might help if i masage it in at night?
