I'm looking for a 'control slip' if such a thing exists...? Help!

I've recently purchased this WC dress and I need something to go under it to streamline my shape a little bit. I'm a pear shaped, size 10-12 but due to curved spine and possibly too many cakes my stomach sticks out a bit which kind of ruins the line of the dress. Don't get on with control pants/tights - they seem to give me the runs (does this happen to anyone else?) so I was thinking some sort of slip just to smooth things out a bit? Any ideas? TIA

nice dress

I saw slips in Primark yesterday - think they were control ones. They had them in black or nude. No idea of price but they'll be cheap as chips. Might be worth a look?

Brilliant - will investigate!

My mum has a proper tight control slip thing and she found it rolled up every time she sat down - she thinks it was either too small or too short.

People at work recommend the M&S ones.

This one looks good

Or good old spanx.

phyllisdiller · 19/11/2011 18:47

Having said that this one from the white company looks a bit more comfortable, it's sold out on line though.

henrythecat · 19/11/2011 18:50

Will try M+S too and if can't find anything suitable I might have to invest in Spanx...bit eeeek at the prices though but I suppose it would work for under a lot of things.

Thank you! Much appreciated :)

I have the spanx slip. It was a waste of £66 as it generally ends up around my waist. Drives me nuts.

trixymalixy · 19/11/2011 18:57

I have One of these which is much more effective unless it's a short dress.

BleughCowWonders · 19/11/2011 19:43

I saw a Calvin Klein one in John Lewis but was Shock at the £72 price tag... Decided to let the dress stick to my tights anyway...
But now will go and try Primark - thanks Foosty!

I'd be tempted to buy one of the Gok dresses with control slip from S'bury's and use that.

henrythecat · 19/11/2011 22:44

Oooh, thanks for the heads up on the rolling spanx. I think the onesie may be the solution as that def won't roll up. Though I'm thinking that there might be a slight risk of a wedgie in places....

I have the onesie too and it has it's uses - but it's USELESS for the going to the loo!
I also have a Next slip which is not long, but easier to wear. Mine has noticeable seams so not good for under fine jersey but would be OK under something thicker.

TK Maxx had some (racks and racks of the) the other day near the party dresses. Lots of different styles and strength.

shopalot · 20/11/2011 18:56

I have the m&s control full slip which is excellent. here

sleepysox · 20/11/2011 22:35

Totally agree with the M&S one. I have it in black and it's made me feel confident to wear dresses again, as it does smooth out lumps and bumps. I went up a size, so it's still comfy for a long day at work, whilst still creating a more streamlined appearance.
