I've bought this outfit for a night out. Is it ok for a 40 something woman?

... minus the blazer. I'm planning on wearing a black leather biker jacket instead. I'm a size 12.

I don't think it's that badly priced (for a special occasion)....£10 tops form Primark tend to look just like what they are...

Meant to say leather biker jacket.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 18/11/2011 13:56

Yes blazer would be much better.

FunnysInTheGarden · 18/11/2011 13:56

I like it too and have seen some of these style Ted Baker tops in RL, but the ones with ballerinas on and they are lovely. What shoes?

I would pay £100 for Ted Baker as the quality and styling is just so good.

Yes, black velvet blazer better.

I do like it & similar from Primark would look cheap, IMO.

Ted Baker stuff lovely in RL, always lovely feel & drape, so if you can afford it, fine.

snowmummy · 18/11/2011 13:58

Exactly MoFo Grin - no problem

Shoes - high black shoe boot thingies - had them a while

Um, I'd say fine for work but not for a night out. It is pretty and very feminine and yes it would go well with black skinny jeans and even a biker jacket as a cool contrast, but I wouldn't say it was dressy enough for nights out?

Makes me think of NCT mother out at lunch.

TheRhubarb · 18/11/2011 13:59

Oh shit, you've spent £100 on it? Shock

Erm, it's great! Blush

snowmummy · 18/11/2011 14:00

NCT mother at lunch Shock oh no!!

Seriously, its as dressy as I'm getting.

I think I like it anyway and I'm going to wear it. As a matter of interest, those of you who don't like, what do you think I should wear?

OP posts:
TheRhubarb · 18/11/2011 14:26

Soooo sorry, I didn't read until it was too late that you had already bought it.
It IS nice, I just wouldn't wear it for going out. I think you need something more like this which is not too dressy but is classy and pretty. Or how about a tunic that would look nice with skinny jeans? Tight tops look great with biker jackets and if you have the figure for skinny jeans then wearing a tight top should be ok, or at least something more fitted rather than flowy and flowery.

snowmummy · 18/11/2011 14:29

No problem rhubarb. I would rather honest opininions. I kinda like that top but I wouldn't wear it. I can wear skinnies but need a top that disguises a wobbly (but not too big) tummy. I don't like tunics either sorry - I think they are mumsy.

I love it, I have a similar shape to you and these type of Ted tops look fab. Skinnies and fuck me heels are in order.

I hope you got you 20% off, I cleaned up on Xmas pressies in the Ted shop yesterday, and they've extended the discount today too.

Bless you Ted!

gothicmama · 18/11/2011 19:28

I'd wear it with a biker jacket skinnies and boots- maybe it's being 40+- try it with both jackets and go which makes you most feel most confidenty

Anyone else think Jo Wood looks like a (slightly) younger Barbara Windsor?
