I have long, highlighted hair that is in desperate need of some TLC.

I want it to be shiny, soft, bouncy and looking in great condition.

Can you recommend hair products for me to try, what do you use to keep yours looking good?

Watching with interest as my hair is suddenly looking very dull. It feels soft and is in good condition, but just looks tired somehow.

I've just started looking into the "no poo" methods which means that you stop using shampoo! Either you just wash with conditioner or with baking soda and people who use it swears by it. After some time you're hair has recovered from harsh chemicals the natural oils are balanced out and you're suppose to get easy, gorgeous glossy hair that hardly ever needs washing.

Does it work? I don't know but I will try!
You can google it and look it up on youtube for loads of info. (there's also old threads here on mumsnet)

Moroccan oil - fantastic stuff- worked on my straw Grin. I use the light version as have fine highlighted hair.

I use Ojon damage reverse restorative hair treatment which is amazing. I leave it on overnight once a week and it stops my hair from going frizzy and brittle. I have posted a link to their website and it's also available on QVC where they have a 30 day money back guarantee if you try it and it doesn't work for you, but I'm sure it will help sort your locks out!

I agree with chardom I use ojon restorative once maybe twice a week. I leave it on for about an hour, and it leaves My hair really soooooft and silky. Some people complain about the smell, but actually I love the smell.

chardom · 17/11/2011 21:36

I love the smell too Jessicaalbastwin, but my kids hate it and always moan when I have it on, or even worse, if I attempt to put it on their hair!!Smile

Yes!! Morrocan hair oil is fab, also fudge do a reconstructor called "1 shott", the two together work together really well.

1gglePiggle · 17/11/2011 23:28

The new elvive shampoo and conditioner in black bottles is really good, half price in sainsbo's at mo too!

JennyPiccolo · 17/11/2011 23:38

get haircuts as often as possible.

Darnsarfupnorf · 18/11/2011 00:07

Aussies 3 minute miracle, i use it twice a week in the shower after washing and conditioning as normal. you have to try it a few times with different amounts and how long you leave it on but once you find what suits your hair it looks fab! ive just perfected it and have been asked twice today if ive had my hair done Grin makes a nice change, my hairs looked like shit for over a year!

FabMum1 · 18/11/2011 14:50

I'll have a look at Ojon and Moroccan OIl, are they pricey?

What about styling products too?

Ojon damage reverse shampoo and conditioner.

MissBeehiving · 18/11/2011 16:53

I love Ojon too but think it smells like fags Hmm If you put it on then blast with a hairdryer it works even better.

I rate Aussie "Take the heat" shampoo and conditioner too.

And argan oil.

I've just bought some Joico k-pak reconstructor so will try that over the weekend and post results.

Next stop PK Elasticiser.

busymummy3 · 18/11/2011 22:28

Lee Stafford Poker Straight hair treatment. It is in a bright pink tub. Get it from Boots only. I dont straighten my hair - got it for my daughter who does and coulnt resist a try myself because it smells lovely on her hair! I have blonde colured hair and it made it look lovely and shiny. You shampoo your hair as normal, then put a ping pong ball sized amount of htis treatment on,wait at least 5 minutes rinse off then put your normal conditoner on and rinse off. It is BRILLIANT!

Granard · 19/11/2011 11:38

The Sebastian Colour Ignite range is great for coloured hair. There's a multi-tone one for highlighted hair and a mono one for coloured non-highlighted hair. Really good also for maintaining the colour. www.lookfantastic.com

Kiehls also do a colour protect range which is really good.

And, if you can stand the smell, full fat mayonnaise works well. Put it on dry hair, cover in clingfilm or plastic bag and leave for 20 minutes. Then work shampoo into your hair before you use water and use warm, not hot, water.

neuroticmumof3 · 19/11/2011 15:40

PK elasticizer is very good and I would recommend it. Also have you thought about getting a friend to do a brazilian treatment on your hair? I haven't tried it (yet) but it's meant to be excellent for knackered hair.

TattyDevine · 19/11/2011 19:34

I did Brazillian treatment on my over-processed hair and I got the softness back that Ojon couldn't. Ojon is great though and will solve most hair problems but if you've depleted your protein by too much dying then you need to replace it with Keratin and Brazillian does that.

If not that bad get an Ojon restorative and this bad boy which is like a mash-up of Moroccan oil and Brazillian blow dry (in that it has Keratin in it)

If you wanna use that website say you are a student. We are all students really. Students of style.
