Want both, need to get rid of wrinkly eyes.

Dermalogica, total eye care, best product ever! I would risk eBay cause I find it quite expensive from a salon.

Oh, thank you, will just bump this to see if anyone else has any ideas. Grin

I like Bodyshop Wisewoman eye cream and then like to put Beauty flash balm on a bit later (then Boing no. 2 concealer if I can be bothered)

i've just starte using smashbox hydrating primer after reading a recommendation by Sali Hughes in the Guardian. Don't know how it compares to other primers as \i haven't used them before, but it seems to do the trick.

I'm a bit dim here, but what does a primer actually do?

NewChoos · 18/11/2011 16:30

MAC primer is very good.

Mummyinthedark · 18/11/2011 16:48

Laura Mercier primer is excellent, it really evens out my wrinkly bits. I can just use tinted moisturiser and a bit of concealer after using this.

I am using a Clarins eye cream that is supposed to help dark circles and bags at the moment but not sure if it's doing more than Clinique All About Eyes that I had before.

To disguise dark under eye circles I use Benefit erase paste. When they are really bad I use a little bit of white powder from Laura Mercier, which you put on over your face powder.

Smashbox primer is fab. I've worked on cosmetics concessions and have tried a lot. As for eye creams I think Estee Lauders eye cream is hard to beat. Mix it with their undereye concealer and you are on to a winner.

castlesintheair · 18/11/2011 17:18

Avon Anew Clinical Eye Lift is fab. There is a cream for the under eye and a gel bit for the lids.

I've also been using Avon Anew Clinical Lift and Firm Pro Serum at night recently and I put it on this morning by mistake. I don't know if the effect is primer-like but my tinted moisturiser has stayed in place all day and I've had a pleasing dewiness which is most unusual for an old hag like me. I shall be using it every morning from now on.

Whizkidwithacrazystreak · 18/11/2011 17:24

I love Avons primer and it's a fantastic price at £6. It is better than Benefits' Porefessional (£21)

Righty ho.

Have just ordered the Avon eye cream.....I like the look(and reviews) for the Smashbox primers, but which one do I need? There are so many!

I think I like the sound of the luminous one. I don't need to changemy colouring or anything, am not greasy (or dry)just getting on a bit

I am going to be back later for concealer. Then you won't recognise me. At the moment my face feels like Clement Freud's.

who isb that? Confused

blimmy am ship

Bunbaker · 19/11/2011 20:19

So, please can someone tell me what purpose a primer serves?

QuinnFabray · 19/11/2011 21:15

Primer makes my foundation go on smoother, look better and less cakey, and some of them stop my face getting too oily, which it is prone to doing, and stops the foundation from sliding off my face within a couple of hours.

I like MAC spf 50 primer. I've tried a fair number, and this is the only one that helps with my oily skin problem.

Bucharest · 20/11/2011 11:04

At the moment I'm using a cheapo Maybelline one, and it just seems to smooth my skin somehow. But I'm 46 Sad and think I need something a bit more heavy duty and hardworking. (and I fall for the advertising and think a more expensive one will make me look 21 again Grin)

Ah. I don't wear foundation as I find it rather ageing. I stick to tinted moisturiser instead and find that it does an excellent job. I have normal/combination skin BTW.

polyhymnia · 20/11/2011 15:37

Totally agree tinted moisturiser much less aging than other types of foundation. One I particularly love is love Becca's Luminous Skin Colour.

Have just also bought one of their primers - the Radiance one - to wear underneath it, and must say I'm very pleased with it. Gives a real glow and a lovely smooth surface. Am going to try it in its own as I need very little coverage.

polyhymnia · 20/11/2011 15:37

PS Before try ing the Becca, Laura Mercier was my top choice.

polyhymnia · 20/11/2011 15:47

Just for eyes, recommend By Terry's Clarté de Rose eye serum, which I use in the morning, and By Terry Hyaluronic Eye Primer. Both excellent, and last for ages.

Bunbaker · 20/11/2011 18:02

Where would I find Becca? I am running out of mine (Vie) and fancy a change.

AngryGnome · 20/11/2011 21:29

I use L'Oreal's primer - it's the only one I have used but I really like it. It takes the redness out of my skin, and gives it a nice even tone before applying foundation. It also stops my foundation caking. In the summer I just where the primer on its own to smooth my skin.

polyhymnia · 21/11/2011 09:30

On Becca, only down side is they are not very easy to track down as there aren't loads of outlets.
Stockists are on their web page, though. I get mine in London, at Fenwicks or Becca's own shop in South Ken, then, once I know the colours, etc I want order them online.
