Note - you can't return everything you buy online at Debenhams to a shop.

I drove for an hour to return some boots to the shop - only to be told that the shop had to actually stock the brand. Grrrr. Bloody big shoe box as well. Had to drag it around with me all day shopping.
I won't be buying from Debenhams online again - thats for sure.

Did it say so when you bought it?

I know some stuff in Dorothy Perkins says "this is from our blah blah range and cannot be returned in store".

ruddynorah · 17/11/2011 16:48

It will have said when you bought it. Why did you drive for an hour? Surely you have a post office nearer than that.

TracyK · 17/11/2011 16:51

I need to go on and look and see if it did say that. I didn't really pay attention tbh as I've bought online and returned to them a few times in the past with no probs.

I would rather stick pins in my eyes then stand in the q we have in our PO - usually a 25 min wait! Plus I knew I would be able to combine the return with a shopping trip. Just that I wouldn't have gone to that particular shopping centre - would have gone to a better one slightly closer.
Plus I wouldn't have bought dh a pair of boots - thinking that I was getting rid of the big box - only to be left with the big box and a pair of mens boots - too far from the car to warrant dumping them in the boot and resuming shopping empty handed!

It does say - after you click through a couple of tabs - that you can only return if the store has that concession.
Not worth the risk imo - I like a nice easy free delivery and free return either by courier or to the shop. ie M&S or asos.

I disagree about the courier - I would rather have something delivered by Royal Mail because then if I am not in I know it will go to a sorting office nearby, not to a depot 30 miles away.

Agree that free delivery and free returns gets more stuff sold - you can add things and think "I'll just have a look at it, I can always send it back".

I live way out so most couriers know to leave my stuff in the greenhouse.

Tracy, I once did this with Debenhams. I ordered loads of stuff for DS1 in two sizes as I was unsure of their fit. I kept some of it and as we were going into Leeds the next day I thought I would return the unsuitable stuff to the store. What a bloody faff. I came back with most of it as they didn't stock all of the labels. I hadn't realised though that I gave the wrong card to them for the refund and they didn't know and put the money on a different card.
