There was an article in the Daily Mail today about how expnsive some items on the highstreet are. I was Shockat some of the prices which imo are more designer prices. Have you noticed the same?

Yes prices have gone up but there is a lot more choice now at the budget end than there was 10-15 years ago. The prices in shops like Gap are shocking for the quality, does anyone ever buy anything full price in there? What I find lacking is good quality mid priced shops.

What counts as mid priced? About 40 quid for a top for example? Topsho/Zara/Mango have good stuff at about that price. If we think of the 'top end' of the high street as e.g. LK Bennett, Whistles then I guess Topshop/Zara/Mango are the middle. Any other suggestions, I'm interested to know?

Topshop, sorry.

Yes I think mid priced to me would be the Topshop, Zara, Mango end of the high st and top end is Whistles etc. Trouble is its all polyester in the mid price range. Perhaps my expectations are just unrealistic and I am just a cheapskate?
Ever since I have been a SAHM I don't want to spend lots on clothes as my life day to day does not require the sort of clothes I would really like to wear and how I would dress if I was still working e.g silk blouses, slim trousers, tailored wool coats and elegant leather shoes/boots. As it is I often feel overdressed at the school gate!!
