A bit of background - I try hard, but no matter how hard, I never look the part.
I am early 30's, size 10ish and working at a uni. My prefered look would be trainers / jeans / t-shirt, which is ok but does not necessarilly send the right message to students or colleagues. Growing tired of being confused for a tired-looking student.
I have a big work thingy coming up (three days of presentations / networking) and need to get my outfits sorted out.

I've got, so far,
anew pair of flat shoes from Kurt Geiger (nice, but not great for the cold weather / rain)
Some skinny black jeans and Mango tailored navy blue trousers
A black pencil skirt and a blue pencil dress

What I am lacking is nice tops and cardi.
At the moment, I have this one and that's about it.
Still lacking nice shoes that would be ok for walking outdoors, flat or not too high, and warm as much as possible!

All help gratefully received!

Hobbs? NW3 stuff is smart but still has a bit of an edge (they have MULTI-10 this in the outlet section in size 10?. Or go for really plain white shirt/grey cardigan and wear a bright necklace?

Shoes - sounds odd but have you looked at Gabor? They have some vv plain ballet pump shoes which would work with trousers and skirts/dresses but are well made with decent soles.
