fine hair revelation!

Just wanted to share a couple of things I've tried recently that have really improved how I feel about my hair - in case anyone else has the same hair issue as me.

I have very fine, silky-textured hair that won't hold a style and goes floppy. Needs washing most days to look its best.

The problem was that it just sat there looking limp, lifeless + fluffy.

Tried all kinds of different root boosting stuff; sprays, mousses etc which all made it sticky + feel dirty + stiff.

So my new discovery is 2 products from the Lee Stafford range at boots. The first is called 'I hate my hair the day it's washed' and is a spray. You just shove it on when you've towel dried and it knocks the fluffiness out of it without leaving a product-y feel. The second is a sea salt spray. You spray it all over and then either leave to dry or blow dry. I just sprayed it on and left it, and it's really given my hair some guts. It feels loads thicker - like it will hold a shape, and I can handle it much better. It's made it look thick and glamorously mussed up in a kind of Bridgette Bardot way, rather than flat & tame IYSWIM

Anyway I'm dead chuffed with it, and have spent so much money and time looking for the right stuff to put on my hair that I thought I'd share the love with other frustrated fine haired people. I promise I do not work for Lee Stafford! There may well be other sea salt sprays that work just as well.

Ah the sea salt spray! I'd forgotten about that. My hairdresser recommended it to me.

Thanks for the reminder Smile

voodoobarbie · 13/11/2011 01:04

Thanks will try those :)

AlpinePony · 13/11/2011 07:13

Thank you - I will look out for those.

My tips for fine hair: Kerastase.

Also - and I am the last person in the western world to have been converted - straighteners. I had my hair straightenend at the hairdresser a few weeks ago and what a revelation! I actually own straighteners which I've never used because I um... well, my hair is fine and straight and I figured that was as good as it got. But it looked gorgeous and like a hairstyle.

On the plus side ladies - we have beautiful fine hair which people love to touch!

beatenbyayellowteacup · 13/11/2011 10:09

AlpinePony I just discovered straighteners a month ago! I had exactly the same experience, but it does wonders for my -lank-- hair. I love them now, use them every day.

beatenbyayellowteacup · 13/11/2011 10:10

aawww fail. lank

kickingking · 13/11/2011 11:15

Oooh, this sounds promising. My hair is fine and refuses to be straightened for at least four or five hours after washing and blowdrying - and it needs washing every morning or it looks greasy Sad It's just horrible, fluffy hair - neither completely straight nor actually wavy or curly. The only good thing about it is that it's very shiny.

So - does it sound like it would work on my hair? And how much do these miracle potions cost?

madmomma · 13/11/2011 13:12

Thanks for replying ladies. Will be back later when have time.x

Be careful of your new found straightener addiction if you have fine hair. Constantly using heated styling tools will damage your hair and cause it to break.

I have hair like the last poster. Fine and fluffy with a bit of a kink and have been using a hot brush to try and get it smooth and wavy. It's now devoid of shine, even more fuzzy and has an aura of fluffy short snapped hairs throughout Sad

I thought I'd cut down drying it with the hot brush earlier in the year by having a Brazilian keratin treatment but that buggered up my hair even more and the heat from the straighteners made loads of it snap off about 2 inches from the root. Never again!

Selks · 13/11/2011 13:17

The salt spray sounds good, will look out for it.

cheesesarnie · 13/11/2011 13:28

sounds good.feel bit peed off paying for sea salt spray since i live near the seaGrin should i hang my head over a cliff.

i hated my fine, dead straight, wont do anything hair until it fell out!now i dont care, its growing back, still straight, fine, wont hold anything for 5 minutes but its there!!!

LostInTransmogrification · 13/11/2011 16:12

The Lee Stafford range is 2 for£9 in Boots right now. I've bought both products and have my fingers crossed for tomorrow morning!

TracyK · 13/11/2011 16:24

Do you use both products together Madmomma - or just one at a time on different days?

I like joico ICE lotion - it says it protects it from UV rays and heated appliances. It smoothes your hair down (still need a wee bit serum just at the ends) and gives a bit of body - but you don't feel like you have product overload.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 13/11/2011 16:30

Oooh, sounds good. Will look out for it.

Have you tried Osis Dust It? My sister has some and I love it and pinch hers, but haven't actually bought my own yet.

madmomma · 13/11/2011 16:32

TracyK I use them together, but if you just wanted to knock out the fluffiness the I hate my... spray would do that on its own.
kickingking I'd give them a go and if you don't like them take them back & say they made yr scalp itch or somthing. Wrong?

Hum, so far not impressed! I have very fine (and straight hair) but I know the feeling of having just been in the sea so was excited to use this stuff. I stopped at 20 squirts (on dry hair) cos I could see that 50 squirts (as recommended on bottle) would be far too much for my hair. The result? Greasy hair, not a good look, tis why I wash my hair every day. Have washed my hair and have given it 6 squirts and allowing it to dry naturally, fingers crossed.

TracyK · 16/11/2011 10:55

How did it go with just 6 squirts froggie?

sweetheart · 16/11/2011 12:32

I have fine hair and use salt spray quite a bit. I find it works nicely if you spray it onto damp hair and then twirl damp sections around your finger then leave it to dry like this - it looks a bit like dreadlocks. Once it's dry just run your fingers trough it and it should give your hair a nice wavy look.

Frog253 · 16/11/2011 16:35

6 squirts the same really ie hair feels greasy much earlier in the day than normal. Usually wash with a 2-in-1. Will try using just shampoo and see if the sea salt works better on unconditioned hair.

Frog253 · 16/11/2011 16:35

Not giving up just yet....
