I find Clinique Foxy really suits me - used to have almost navy blue eyes that are fading to a grey-blue with age Smile

ballroomblitz · 12/11/2011 18:09

A grey will bring out the blue. For instance I have blue/green eyes (and a bit hazel in one) and find a navy really brings out the green in them.

I have part of a Dior palette atm and the grey is gorgeous and makes my eyes appear blue/blue. Run out the other day and can't find it on their counters now grrrr..

Benefit do some lovely smokey greys... and was quite surprised when my mum bought me an Avon palette full of various bright, smokey colours. Though to myself nah... but after trying, the pigment in them is fab and stays all day:)

MissBeehiving · 12/11/2011 19:08

Thats interesting Foxy - Haven't thought of trying that colour.

Thanks Ballroom

I think matte colours suit me better now I'm knocking on a bit Grin

Should have said Foxy is a really nice metallic brown colour. But agree with ballroomblitz that greys are lovely too. I have an good Estee Lauder one that I got as part of Gift Time that is called Blue Sphere but is more of a grey than a blue.

MissBeehiving · 12/11/2011 19:12

Is it good for daytime Househunter?

OP posts:
Househunter · 12/11/2011 19:14

Yes. Well, I have just worn it all day so I hope so! Grin Its very matte. Don't know whether it is still available as it was a freebie I got a while ago though...

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 12/11/2011 19:18

I have an Estee Lauder due palette. pale beige and dark grey, it looks lovely and not overly 'done' when applied.

If you fancy trying new colours you cant beat Bourjouis single eye pods. Cheap as chips and last forever.

MissBeehiving · 12/11/2011 19:20

Mmm ,,is it this one?

OP posts:
Househunter · 12/11/2011 19:29

Not sure. The one I have has a shimmer and the one you linked to looks like a matte one, but that is what you are after so it might work. Have just searched for the Estee Lauder one too and this shows how long I make my makeup last for, I think both colours I have recommended are no longer made!

MissBeehiving · 12/11/2011 19:33

Damn those make up companies.

Revlon colorstay 02 Coffee Bean. The taupe is perfection. No shimmer.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 12/11/2011 19:52

I wear taupe a lot, really easy to wear and flattering. My favourites are:
Laura Mercier Topaz and Sable and Mac copperplate or satin taupe

A peachy/champagne can be gorgeous too. Urban Decay Sin, Mac Grain and mac nubile paint pot

Curiousmama · 12/11/2011 19:54

They say plum brings out blue?

Iatemyskinnyperson · 12/11/2011 20:17

I think it's plum for green- opposites on the colour wheel. it's orange for blue- so bronze/copper/warm browns, but I always found those hard colours to wear- make me look tired

MissBeehiving · 12/11/2011 20:19

Iate - are those LM sparkly or matt?

OP posts:
Iatemyskinnyperson · 12/11/2011 20:38

Very elegant shimmer, I wear them during the day.

mathanxiety · 12/11/2011 20:51

Depends on your skin tone to some extent. I have blue grey eyes and very pale skin. Any hint of brown or gold on my eyelids makes me look as if I've been crying for a week. I use a dark grey shadow and liner, as my eyes are very 'Asian' in shape and I decided my look would highlight that rather than disguise it.

Househunter · 12/11/2011 21:20

mathanxiety - where do you get your grey eyeliner from and is it liquid? No7 used to do a great grey eyeliner but they stopped making it a few years ago and I have struggled to find a replacement

mathanxiety · 12/11/2011 21:27

I have resorted to using eyeshadow as eyeliner as my favourites used to all end up discontinued. It works just as well as the pencils I used to use. I buy two eyeshadows in the same colour, with their two applicators, and use one with the applicator just very slightly wet for the liner, or sometimes just use it dry.

Househunter · 12/11/2011 21:36

Ah, clever. Probably too fiddly for me but might give it a go.

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 12/11/2011 23:19

Do you have any other colour/ flecks in your irsi than blue/grey?

beatenbyayellowteacup · 13/11/2011 00:46

househunter I have a grey eyeliner from Mac. Absolutely love it

garlicBread · 13/11/2011 00:54

I use powder shadow and a wet brush, too. I second smoky greys and navy - works better than black for outline. I'm a typical grey/blue Brit with rosy skin. Pinky coppers do make my eyes look more blue, but it's hard to get it right without looking tired.

Have now got some blue-tinted contact lenses: much easier than using contrast eye makeup!

garlicBread · 13/11/2011 00:57

I use this Revlon palette most often. This one makes blue eyes shine, but only if your skin can take reddish hues.
