What are you wearing on Christmas Day?

Just wondering really....

I'd quite like to find something comfortable, maybe that I could wear with leggings so that I can stuff my face.

Maybe something like this but I want something a bit more colourful. Sleeves are important as I don't want to spend the day shivering.

Any suggestions or links to what you are wearing (even if its totally different to what I have in mind - its good to see other ideas Smile)

just what ever is ironed! Jeans probably. We don't get dressed up but we stay home.

Househunter · 12/11/2011 16:08

We are just going to my parents so nothing glamourous but I would like to get a little dressed up ( a few sparkles/ sequins without being OTT), and I want to find something I could wear out to dinner another time. Anyone?

I will mostly be wearing my ski jacket and salopettes :o

However, I will change for dinner and wear something more elegant. I have a lovely navy tunic with bronze sequin stripes from French Connection which must be at least 6 years old - twas a copy of the MaxMara Serpent dress which was a huge hit on the AW catwalks that year. So that's a potential wear, with black opaques and shoe-boots.

Having said that, I am still on the hunt for a beautiful vintage 50s number - think full skirts, nipped-waists and elegant necklines. I wear a lot of vintage anyway but there is something about the festive season which makes any play on Dior's New Look absolutely perfect :)

What ever I can still fit into, I'll be 2 weeks away from my due date plus full of xmas pud!

ujjayi · 12/11/2011 17:29

mandoo perhaps you should wear this Wink

Househunter · 12/11/2011 17:57

ujjayi your navy tunic sounds fab - that's the sort of thing I need to find (but less £££ than FC!).

Like your suggestion for mandoo - its perfect festive maternity wear!

Thanks ujjayi or should I say GOK Wink

ujjayi · 12/11/2011 18:08

Mandoo I am currently studying fashion and would rather wear the pud than one of Gok's el cheapo "designer copies" (i.e. put on cheap tacky dress, smother liberally with pritt stick then run through haberdashery department crashing into anything and everything).

Househunter - there are loads on eBay. Search for French Connection Serpent Dress. THere are variety of versions but the one I have is the nicest IMO - navy with gold/bronze sequins. THink they also did a black with gold version.

mandoo · 12/11/2011 18:14

Loving the Gok put down ujjayi. I often watch in horror and amazement at what he does to some poor women. Sometimes I think the original rugby shirt and baggy joggers they turned up in were a better look.

Jessicaalbastwin · 12/11/2011 18:38

Jeans and and nice top, anything that keeps me warm.

Househunter · 12/11/2011 19:24

ujjayi - yes, I definitely like that but wouldn't want to buy on eBay as only about 5% of the things I try on are flattering on my postnatal belly (when I say postnatal I sadly mean about 18 months postnatal so looks like its here to stay!)

Can anyone recommend any sparkly/dressy tunics?

Probably leggings as my pregnant belly will be pretty comfortable in them. Some sort of dress or tunic over the top (to hide the old thighs).

mathanxiety · 13/11/2011 00:45

Jeans and a lacy blouse I found second hand.

madmomma · 13/11/2011 00:47

A hospital gown and large maternity pad. Not my best look :-(

HedgeHop · 13/11/2011 00:47

Nothing. Nothing at all :)

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 13/11/2011 00:53

OP what about this?

Nippysnippy · 13/11/2011 00:54

A face like a slapped arse.......

madmomma · 13/11/2011 01:06

Hahahaha! Oh God yeah nippy me too, me too... so much.

NinkyNonker · 13/11/2011 11:50

Anything that fits by the time I get there.

brighthair · 13/11/2011 11:52

Last year was a long top, cardigan and pj bottoms Blush
This year I am at work so whatever I wear to work I will have on after. Probably stretchy skinny jeans, long top and UGGs. I go for comfort Grin

Househunter · 13/11/2011 12:37

LikeACandleButNotQuite - thats very nice but its prety similar to what I wear every other day of the year. I want something a little bit eveningy perhaps. There's just something special about dressing up in the daytime. Its like drinking in the day is always more exciting than at night iyswim? Grin
