Top quality make up brushes - any suggestions?

Hi all

My sister in law wants some good quality make up brushes for Christmas - and I have no idea where to start! Mine are all about 20 years old... Blush

Those of you that use brushes - please can you recommend some reassuringly expensive ones - or is cost not a good guide?

Thanks in advance.

Cost is not a good guide in some situations. Take E.L.F brushes. Fabulous mid quality brushes for £1.50 to £3 each!

Generally you get what you pay for.

I bought a set recently from Costco that were relatively inexpensive but as good as the MAC ones I have.

The Crown ones are recommended by a veh prestigious make-up school near here... And they do a phenomenal range. This make-up school place recommends the 'studio' set (you can buy it from www.crownbrush.co.uk) although you can buy individual brushes on there too. I would recommend a foundation brush, large powder brush, blush brush, flat-topped stippling brush, angled eye brush, stiff angled brow brush, eyeshadow blending brush, concealer brush and eyeliner brush if you go for individual items - they are what I use most often.

HOT TIP - Smashbox brushes are half price on certain ones on www.justbeautydirect.co.uk at the moment - I spent about £80 on them the other week Blush - the big powder brush and the blush brush are fab.
