POLYHYMNIA I looked at the LK Bennett Anna bag in snakeskin and....

I really didn't like it Shock..... I have been hankering with you for a while, but I need to share my findings!

here

From the shelf it looked completely and utterly edible, I eyed it up from many angles whilst browsing the shop. It really pulled on the old heart strings. It sang to me 'PICK ME UP YOU LOON'. So I did, willingly. However, my first impression was of how thin the leather was, compared to the normal leather anna bag, this was paper thin, and I was actually struggling to undo the metal clasp closure for fear of tearing the leather!?! The assistant came over as she saw me struggling and I said I thought it would tear and she said to be firm with it...she still had to really pull hard and the delicate snake print was straining....

However I got it on my shoulder eventually and it really did look divine. However, 2nd disappointment, as the leather was so paper thin the shoulder straps had no guts at all and the bag kept falling off my shoulder, essentially the 2nd strap kept flopping down. I also noticed that with nothing in the bag, the base was not firm, and was already sagging in the middle - again as it was too thin. Packed full of my crap it would look like a sack in a nano second.

So, my conclusion was, if I were to buy it and have it on the mantlepiece to look at lovingly then this was a great, in fact the best purchase ever. If I wanted to actually use it, then it was a huge £345 failure....

Sad

madame - very many thanks for 'road testing' it for me in that way. I hadn't examined it closely, merely admired - though had tried out the plain coloured Annas.

What you say certainly puts me off. I cerainly wouldn't expect the leather to be so thin at that price, and also hate that 'sagging in the middle' look.
Now I can cross that one off my list. Huge thanks again for the detailed feedback from a conoisseur!

PS - really puts me off L K Bennett a bit that they offer that low quality at that price. A shame, as have been buying their shoes since they opened their first shop in Wimbledon quite a long time ago now. But have noticed those too are very pricy now, and often find myself preferring Russell and Bromley if I'm going to pay that much.

I have massively gone off LK Bennett and quite a few other mid-range shops. I am all in favour of buying once and buying quality but £400 for a pair of satin and leather insole shoes is RIDICULOUS.

The real cost of making good quality shoes is about 40-60 pounds for absolute top quality ingredients (I have a friend who did the shoe-making course at St Martins). Which meant I never used to mind paying £150.

But £400 is daft.

I do think for the money it should have been made better! I was disappointed, it was a crush i'd had for a while..... I shall now move on!

Though they have reduced it to #276 in two snaky colours.

Just saying.
