Basic longer length tops for layering?

can you recommend some long sleeved, bum covering tops for winter? Just basic comfy tops for wearing under cardi's? I know it doesn't sound difficult but had a mooch around town and came home empty handed! Everything was either short sleeved, cropped or hideous colours! Any online retailers I could try where things come up in the correct sizes?

I bought 2 from Next - one teal and one charcoal grey/black. Bought them on line, £8 each.

ParkerRocks · 10/11/2011 10:48

Thanks, will check those out! The next in my town is the size of a postage stamp, totally pointless!

I always get mine from Oasis as they are nice and long and good quality. Also do good basic range of colours

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/11/2011 13:02

A label called Jackpot that I found in TK Maxx (I have no idea if they have their own shops/web sales, sorry). Nice 100% cotton, organic/fairtrade I think, long-sleeved and long in the body. I have a white one and a dark grey one but presumably they come in other colours too.

SoupDragon · 10/11/2011 13:04

Try Esprit.co.uk

PrinceRogersNelson · 10/11/2011 13:05

The primark ones are OK. Long in the body and come in a good range of colours.

And, of course, nice and cheap.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/11/2011 13:17

Forgot to say, I need a large otherwise they're a bit clingy in the body. Weird as usually I'm a size 8 and with very little norkage. Hmm

woopsidaisy · 10/11/2011 13:57

I bought a couple of tops from Tall Girls. They are definitely a longer length. Cheap too!
Or you could try Long Tall Sally.
I am 5'8''.

MummyAnnabella · 11/11/2011 00:31

No no no try h and m. Next oasis and prim ark don't wear wash well and eventually arms will shorten. H and m 7.99 keep shape and last ages. O
I'm 5'8 and they're long enough for me.

I bought thouse Next ones, TheGoddessBlossom, was pleasantly surprised, as I usually hate the quality of Next stuff. I second Esprit, I got some really nice long lasting jersey tops that were nice and long in the body, a couple of years ago. I liked the Dorothy Perkins ones I got last year, but the one I got this year went holey after the first wash.

FunnysInTheGarden · 11/11/2011 13:24

oh yes, Esprit too, forgot them

GiganticusBottomus · 12/11/2011 07:56

Uniqlo are good. Their heatech stuff is not bulky so great for layering and it's really warm (without being sweaty!)

SoupDragon · 12/11/2011 08:39

I agree about Uniqlo - great for basics.

sprinkles77 · 13/11/2011 12:16

H&m have great maternity tops. Not ruched or obviously maternity, but very long.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 13/11/2011 13:54

Also just seen these in Gap. Almost pure cotton, variety of colours, come in long-sleeved T and poloneck as well as tunic style. I've just ordered some. Smile

HouseOfBamboo · 13/11/2011 17:22

M&S have these in their Thermals dept (I know).

But they don't look thermaly IRL and are actually very good - however I think you would need to wear another layer on top unless you have a very shapely and unlumpy body. But on the upside they are not at all bulky and are lycra'd.

M&S

AuntieDoris · 13/11/2011 17:34

I bought some of these from Dorothy Perkins last year. Very comfortable and reasonably priced.

startail · 13/11/2011 17:39

Auntiedoris beat me to it. Our local dotty P's had lots and I have a nice teal one from a few years back from there too.

chocolateteabag · 13/11/2011 19:19

Hi - Isabella Oliver 365 (the non maternity range) has some really long layering tops. They are £££ but the jersey is really good quality and lasts and lasts.
Worth signing on for their email as they have flash sales every so often

MrsWembley · 13/11/2011 19:22

Far Face (wearing one nowSmile), White Stuff do floaty too. I'm on the large size and like the longer length as it hides a multitude...
