Hair colour remover - any good?

I've got medium bordering on dark brown hair at the moment (dyed) and would like to lighten up to a honey sort of shade. I was wondering if anyone had had any success with something like this ? Have read mixed reviews. I'm reluctant to pay to have it done professionally, so will probably stick with it darker if I can't do it myself. Any advice welcome!

I used head and shoulders every morning for a week, and then put the colour on that i wanted, which was lighter and it worked fine. Though head and shoulders is the most ghastly shampoo i have ever, ever used!!!

I have used colourB4. It works very well and does not affect the condition of the hair. Read the instructions carefully though especially regarding rinsing times and not dyeing again with a 2-part dye for at least a week. You can use a 1-part dye immediately. If you have been dyeing for a long time you will be left rather orange, especially at the roots. You need an ash themed colour to tone it down. Probably start with something lighter than you intend to avoid going too dark again, like a dark ash blonde or light ash brown. avoid anything that says "warm" or "golden" in the name.

My hairdressers told me that they use head and shoulders to strip colour

Hmm! Ok, so maybe I should try head and shoulders! I just hope it's not too hideous whilst it's a work in progress. Was hoping to have it done by next Friday but maybe I shouldn't start til after that just in case.

Good tip to avoid 'warm' or 'golden' dyes too, will remember that! :)

Have used that b4 stuff..was bloody marvellous.
I followed the instructions to the letter and my bad dye job was fixed . I went from black to chestnut brown.
I was very very pleased with the results and condition of my hair afterwards.

I've used colour b4 a few times and always dye it the same day lol

it absolutely stinks but is pretty effective

you do get the orange but only on hair that has previously been dyed with peroxide (most reds, blondes and lighter browns contain it) so if you have colour growing out, your roots shouldn't go orange

I went from really dark brown to caramel with blonde highlights the same day

I have used Colour b 4 and was really pleased with the results, however stupidly used a Castings straight after and ended up back where I started. What is the best make of temporary colour to use after?

TunaTiebacks · 10/11/2011 12:05

Arrgh, wondering whether to just go for it now! But if I'm not allowed to use a permanent after it, I'm not sure what to do because I always thought only a permanent can lighten your hair? More research I think.

I use head and shoulders every day - for me it's the best shampoo for greasy hair, and it doesn't strip my hair dye.....Confused. Is this really true?

sprinkles77 · 10/11/2011 22:37

tuna when you use the colourB4 you will be surprised how light your hair comes out. This is the result of the peroxide that is in 2-part dyes (even the darker shades, I think it helps the pigment penetrate the hair). So hopefully you will just need a lightish brown shade to cover it up, go for a lighter and more ash version of what you really want. As it will be temporary you can go darker next time.

apple i tend to stick to clairol nice n easy. They work, I've never had a reaction and they are often on offer. They are not "fashion" shades, so tend to give a natural appearance.
