Are these shoes nice or am I developing middle aged Mum taste?

I really like both styles and think they would go with loads of things - the colours are lovely and they look quite comfy as well.

These

and these

And could I get away with wearing the non-lace-ups with socks under jeans or would that look tragic?

Step away from the socks.... But you could wear the first ones with socks under jeans if you so wished.

I'm not overly keen but everyones taste is different obviously!

How old are you, asessment for middle aged mum taste!

TougherThanTheRest · 08/11/2011 15:38

I'm 38 so in very dangerous territory - only one step away in either direction from mutton and mumsy!

I prefer a desert boot wedge, are they still around this season?

Bugsy2 · 08/11/2011 15:41

The shoe is not good. The boot thing is just about ok, as long as hidden under jeans.

seasidesister · 08/11/2011 15:53

I like them. Then again, Im a middle aged mum...

goingmadinthecountry · 08/11/2011 17:00

For Clarks they aren't too bad. But I won't be ready for Clarks for a long time (or ever) and I'm 47 and far from trendy, but I do have my standards. They are a bit like proper shoes made sensible.

natashakaplinkyplop · 08/11/2011 18:51

I've seen them in rl, the lace up is nice but the shoe isn't.

I've got the originals wedge desert boots to wear with jeans and they are really comfy.

uniCorny · 08/11/2011 18:52

I'm not keen. Like fly London but not as nice.

TougherThanTheRest · 09/11/2011 09:32

That's odd as I'm not generally keen on Fly stuff. I am worried now, I like quite a lot of stuff in Clarks at the moment - there's no hope for me is there?!

I would wear the wedged boot with socks under jeans.

I wouldn't wear the shoes. Ever.

I am 42. (Oh, God - I'm nearly 43, actually!)

NhameCage · 09/11/2011 09:58

These are nicer imo.

milkmoustache · 09/11/2011 10:08

I am standing up for clarks - I am out and proud! They do have some naff stuff most of the time, but if you have wide feet (like me) they are great, and they have really put some effort into designing more modern things. Oh, and they are comfortable too. I have never got the idea that it is worth suffering to look good - I would never hobble along in a beautiful pair of shoes.

JosieRosie · 09/11/2011 10:15

I'm with milkmoustache - another Clarks fan here! OP, I prefer the boot to the shoe. Don't let the Clarks snobs on here put you off - yes, some of their shoes are shockingly frumpy but some are very nice indeed. And boy they are comfy!

HipHopOpotomus · 09/11/2011 10:17

Oooh Nhame I LOVE those.

NhameCage · 09/11/2011 10:29

They are lovely aren't they? On my wish list.

UterusUterusGhali · 09/11/2011 10:44

I like the shoes and I'm 31.Confused

They are like Fly or Blowfish but a bit more suitible for work.

porcamiseria · 09/11/2011 14:36

madammecholet · 09/11/2011 15:14

not keen

LDNmummy · 09/11/2011 17:04

Actually Clarks is very trendy right now with young people so I would go for it.

Its had a revival due to its association with

DH and I are in our early/ mid twenties and we buy Clarks desert boots and their other original styles. Although we have found that their quality in their other general catalogue has gone down in recent years.

natashakaplinkyplop · 09/11/2011 17:29

They're the ones that I have, they are lovely. I've got the dark brown (ebony)

natashakaplinkyplop · 09/11/2011 17:30

That was in reply to nhame

TougherThanTheRest · 10/11/2011 08:21

Thanks for those links madamme, I do love Kurt Geiger shoes but I still prefer the Clarks tbh, I saw them in real life yesterday and really liked them - I'm sorry, I think I should be banned from this section of MN!
