Dry, flaky skin on chin - AGAIN

Every year at this time of year I get dry, flaky skin on my chin. That is the only place I get it and I find nothing will shift it - grr!
It´s not sore or itchy in any way but very unsightly, it feels rough to the touch and the little flakes come away if I scratch them gently with my nail, then new ones appear.
I have been recommended the Avene products but they just don´t seem to work for me...any suggestions, anyone...? Oh and if I attempt to put foundation on as a cover up the little blighters can still be seen - ahhhh, maybe should just stop looking in the mirror Smile

I'm afraid I can't offer any help but I have suffered from this in the past although it has gotten better as I have gotten older. I am interested if anyone has any useful advice.... I too haven't had luck with Avene. Liz Earle cleanser and then a moisturiser that sadly you can't buy in is country (called Complex 15) which is very light is the best way I have found to deal with these spots. It definitely seems to be a seasonal thing though.

I have this but on my forehead (nice Hmm) I've been using Lush's Ultrabalm and it seems to be helping. I've also been using it on my hands as they get ridiculously sore and dry and it's made them look like new.

Have you tried exfoliating, then a rich moisturiser? Just use a face cloth, warm water and a mild cleanser or soap and rub gently over the area each evening, then moisturise. Something like good old Nivea cream might be fine, assuming you skin is not otherwise oily?

I get patches like this around chin and mouth from time to time but my skin is generally more oily/combo so a rich cream is no good, I get on well with La Roche Posays Toleraine lotion.

I had flaky patches too. I swear by Vaseline Intensive Care Repair and Relief Balm and oil cleansing with macademia nut oil solved all those issues.

The thing that really works for central heating / winter induced skin flakiness (and doesn't cause breakouts) is Eucerin 5% urea cream. Exfoliating makes my flakiness worse, most other creams are not hydrating enough, this has helped overnight when other creams have failed.

LRP Toleriane is decent stuff too, but not as hydrating as Eucerin. If I use LRP for a several days, I tend to get small whiteheads - for some reason it blocks my pores.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions...I think I may give the Eucerin cream a go!
