Cufflinks advice needed

My DP wants to buy his Godson some good cufflinks for his 18th. Have you got any suggestions about a suitable brand? I thought first of Tiffany but consider that too female a brand. I don't like Links for some reason. I think I'm after an old school gentleman kinda vibe. Ideas?

I like facebook because I can keep in touch with all the vintage fairs etc but sales wise it would be a lot of hassle. It's not a very good platform.

I did my photos with an SLR and aperture for the mac. They're not much and took about 5 mins each but they do the job. If you don't want to pay someone to do it I would recommend it. It can be good fun but time consuming.

i buy jewellery from police auctions, estate sales, liquidated businesses, charity shops, bulk lots at vintage fairs etc. I've been a collector/hoarder for most of my life so had so much stuff that I HAD to have, but wasn't really 'me'.
i have parted with some things that I adore though. And it was hard. But so long as I see a happy face and someone who loves it enough to give it a good home it will do.

( I recently had beautiful french paste collar clips. Stunning. Loved them. Anytime someone enquired I bumped the price up so that they wouldnt buy them as I felt that they didn't 'care' about them. Eventually sold them with a discount for £20 to a girl who had fallen in love with them. She was so so pleased and I have seen photos of her wearing them as hairclips and they make me feel proud.)

I am a terrible businesswoman.

We can't afford to pay someone to photo our jewellery, it's also impractical so I have to do it myself! All tips gratefully received coz I am pretty useless and making it up as I go along.

I do understand the 'true love' feeling but you have to harden your heart and become a good business woman. Once something is priced, it is priced, and that is the only price it will sell for. Although I can see from all the antique programmes on tele that some market places assume negotiation, drives me nuts!

Best tip for photographing jewellery is to use a light box. Your photos are pretty good though but I get what you mean by the picture not always representing the goods.

I've actually just been asked to appear at an upmarket vintage/crafts fair that may be televised... Not much info to go on but it sounds interesting! X
