A handbag!

I'm not very stylish, I tend to opt for staples which will last years rather than something totally on trend for only this season. DH has said he would like to buy me a new handbag for Christmas. Very excited.

I would like a handbag big enough for wallet, phone & hairbrush, not a clutch. Budget up to £200.

Please help a clueless, styleless MNer!

Handbags must be bought with the heart, not with the head. Go into a good handbag shop, stand near a display of handbags, and let them talk to you. There will be one that just keeps calling your name. Listen quietly, and you'll hear it.

For me, the ones that call the loudest are by Nica - but I've just bought a gorgeous Desigual one for high days and holidays. It positively sang my name, but as I already had a good 'everyday' handbag, and an evening bag, and a summer time bag, I walked away from it. It shouted, it cried, it cajoled, and eventually I went back for it. £84 well spent.

You sound like an addict wicketkeeper! I have bought from Peony and Moore, great quality, soft leather.. Also try red direct, tkmaxx, lk Bennett.. :)

I recently bought a Milly bag from Peony and Moore. Lovely quality and couldn't be more pleased with it. Sounds like it would fit your requirements perfectly. Check it out - Peony and Moore

Love that bag kagriff, I've got this one

Kagriff, how heavy is the Milly please to carry around and how user-friendly is the strap (I'm asking similar questions on another thread).

Hi, really not heavy at all. I've got a mulberry bag I bought years ago and I love it but it's pretty heavy even before you put anything in. This is definitely lighter than a mulberry. The shoulder strap is also slightly wider in the middle so it doesn't dig in like other bags I've had over the years.

Hope this helps. :)
