Well i wasn't going to put another colour on, but i just can't rock the goth look, i've tried for two whole days and i just cant, it doesn't suit me!

Just to summerise, i coloured my hair, supposedly a dark chocolate brown, (permanent) but it came out very very dark brown, almost black, although the roots are more a reddish lighter hue.

I've been and got Natural ultra light blonde i, nice & easy to 'lighten' it a llittle - i've done it before, but not for years, i know it wont lift the colour a great deal but i'm kinda hoping it'll lift the 'blackness' out a little. I'm planning on just running it through the lengths, avoiding the roots if i can.

I couldn't afford Colour B4 and then another colour after that. My hair isn't in the best of condition and its thinning anyway due to meds i'm taking. I'm about 90% sure i sure go ahead and do this. Is this a good a idea or should i just keep washing my hair like mad with Head & shoulders 6 times a day every day?

I wouldn't lighten with a blonde color. If you are very dark, more ammonia / peroxide can force the dark color further into the hair shaft. At the best, you'll end up with a very patchy effect.

Sorry to say but I would keep washing (not too much if you are thinning though), and try to make the best of your dark color - can you experiment with make-up and different clothes to embrace your darker side?

I second what butterfliesinmytummy said. If you can't afford to go to the hairdresser, use Head & Shoulders to wash it out as I've heard it fades colour fast.

I would bleach it out with a prelightner and then apply a chestnut or brown/ red medium toned shade. Don't leave the prelightner on too long just enough to strip it back a couple of shades. Next pop on a red brown dye so it doesn't turn green hued. Make sure you use a medium brown tone because it will grab the colour. I think l'oreal Recital 'chestnut' is a great colour it will leave it a subtle warm brown without that red unnatural glow. You can bring it in under a tenner.
I have had this happen several times and this has fixed it.
ColourB4 has proved for me to be an expensive letdown. It has reoxidised despite using an eight wash colour and rinsing it out according to instructions.
Steer clear of anything darker than Natural medium Brown in future.......

P.S.DON'T put the blonde on because it will brighten your roots even more and won't shift the brown/black.
