I'm struggling to think -

Nigella isn't untouched.

I think Sheila Hancock is an exceptionally inspiring older woman who is way beyond menopause. Ditto Joan Bakewell and June Whitfield. I am sure that women in their 60s and 70s are just as exasperated at the way they are overlooked in public life as the women in their 40s and 50s.

Bellavita · 04/11/2011 21:11

I think Helen Mirren looks fab.

I certainly do not feel my age - do you think I look it? Wanna take a guess at how old I am?

IslaValargeone · 04/11/2011 21:13

Late 30's?

IslaValargeone · 04/11/2011 21:24

Oh God Bella, where have you gone? I'm having visions of you weeping into your Pinot Grigio because in fact you are only 21 and I have insulted you hugely.

Bellavita · 04/11/2011 21:24

I am 46 Isla, so thank you.

IslaValargeone · 04/11/2011 21:24

Oh Thank God!

Bellavita · 04/11/2011 21:24

Grin Isla, fret not!

Nippysnippy · 04/11/2011 22:08

Audrey Tautou.
Nigella? What has she had done?

I don't quite know how we can really know unless we've seen /know them in the flesh, because even those who've had no major 'work' etc done (and I don't believe all who say they haven't) probably are heavily airbrushed and well lit in pix. And most have had something done, eg fillers. Good luck to them but shame they feel they can't admit to it. I'd say Lulu, for example had had loads done.

Not to say I don't very much admire quite a few of those mentioned, eg Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Sheila Hancock, Susan Sarandon.

Am quite amused though to see women I still think of as young such as Zoe Ball mentioned here!

Sue Johnston

How on earth of we suppose to know if they have? Who do I think still looks beautiful well Joanna Lumley, Rachel Weiss, Christy Turlington,Rachel de Thames(think thats her name ?) They are very beautiful and I don't think a few lines and wrinkles would make much difference.

Nippysnippy · 05/11/2011 17:45

Lulu's Mum was stunning so she may just have great genes. Her mum used to teach me at Sunday School( when I was dragged there) and had a luminous quality about her. She is the image of her mother nowadays. I could quite believe she has had nothing done.

Sue Johnston is a good one but I think even she has had some refreshment. I don't think anyone mentioned on this thread hasn't had work, except Sheile Hancock and Maggie Smith. Deffo Helen Mirren, Streep and Sarandon - which sort of feels like a betrayal but such must be the horrible nature of being employed depending on your face.

polyhymnia · 05/11/2011 18:59

Yup, I agree.
