DIY haircut non layered?

Honeydragon · 04/11/2011 15:27

I have shoulder length hair, no layers. I have successfully put in my own fringe without it looking a DIY disaster.

How can I fix the ends of my hair? I don't want a mnet cut as it is too layered.

Anyone have any foolproof DIY cuts or products to tidy my ends?

Or should I quit while I'm ahead? Grin

Or shall I just go ahead and do it tonight and report back? so you can all laugh at me

I would imagine if your hair is all one length, trimming the ends so that its nice and straight would be pretty difficult. Don't let me stop you though Wink

Grin I have investigated the pony tail method.... It doesn't look to hard to do

Go for it then Grin. And post some pictures.

Do it, do it, do it!! I am full of awe of anyone attempting this. I'd love to be able to do it but I am far too chicken. Also too skint to go to the hairdresser so spend most of my time looking like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. Ho hum. As you were. Friday night - pass the wine Wine

I am not doing the mnet cut! I will later attempt to tidy the ends! I'm still trying to figure out the best way to blend the shorter bits at the front so they are trimmed tooConfused

what's the Mnet cut?

bebemoojem · 04/11/2011 20:33

be wary of the pony tail cut if your hair falls out of the band...I ended up with much shorter back and longer sides...

what I tend to do is:
flip hair over the top, trim
flip hair over the left side, trim
flip hair over the right side, trim
hair back to the back, trim the 'point'
'measure' the sides in the mirror, trim

works ok for me from what dh tells me... (heaven knows if her tells me the truth though or if he even has a clue as he is a boy afterall and they don't know anything abt hair) Wink Grin

that model didn't look too happy with the finished look!

Honeydragon · 04/11/2011 21:13

yes, but would you be if you were told a celebrity hairdresser would be trimming your locks and he did that Wink

It has had a high success rate amongst mnetters though

Honeydragon · 04/11/2011 22:02

ooh that looks lovely! how did you do it?

MrsCornish · 04/11/2011 23:27

excuse me but what is that slug/lettuce combo? lovely hair, btw Smile

Honeydragon · 04/11/2011 23:36

Found the slug in my shrink wrapped lettuce, after it had been in my fridge two days. It was a super slug Grin

Thank you Smile

I put the back in a pony tail and slid a hair band right down, then point cut into the hair to trim it down. I did it a couple of times to it get it even.
and the length right.

Then I pulled the front forward from roughly the temples and put n a pony tail, slid the band down and did the same to blend the lengths.

I'd already cut the fringe in yesterday.

I'm quite pleased, especially as the cheapest place to get a dry trim round here is £15.00.
