please talk to me about little short drop earrings ...

I tried for years to get on with little stud earrings which didnt suit me (but look gorgeous on other people) and chandelier earrings which annoyed me/were impractical with DCs. At the risk of jumping on a bandwagon, I like the kind of earrings which the Middletons seem to wear: short drop earrings which seem to be more flattering and quite fresh and young. I like the idea of subtle drops which would could work for day or night. I don't think we could stump up for real diamonds but would be willing to consider some subtle fakery if done well (and to see whether I do indeed wear the earrings once I get them). Have been looking on JL, HoF, even QVC etc. Really not sure. Can you recommend any?

Bump.
I would like to find a simple pearl drop.

LaDolcheRyvita · 03/11/2011 09:21

Pearl drop for me too, anyone?

Msarsebiscuit · 03/11/2011 09:32

Have you had a look at Astley Clark ? Might be a bit dearer than you were looking for ( and not pearls ) but I like these www.astleyclarke.com/uk/teardrop-black-spinel-earrings-in-22-carat-gold-vermeil-d28244

Msarsebiscuit · 03/11/2011 09:35

What about these ? Pearls - www.astleyclarke.com/uk/peacock-pearl-and-gemstone-drop-earrings-in-14-carat-yellow-gold-vermeil-d28632. ( I apologise for my expensive taste )

MissFoodie · 03/11/2011 09:38

what about these?

Monica Vinader? Other colour options available too.

PieMistress · 03/11/2011 12:28

www.notonthehighstreet.com have some lovely earrings (sorry can't post to specific ones as gulping down cup a soup on my lunch break!)

CeliaFate · 03/11/2011 13:17

I'm looking for some too. Not hoop earrings, studs that have a short drop then a circle. Any ideas?

CeliaFate · 03/11/2011 13:18

Like these but not so blingy!

saoirse86 · 03/11/2011 13:28

CeliaFate this is my DP's website and these are probably far more than you want to pay going by that link but these are beautiful. I don't think it goes straight to the ones I mean, but they're about a third of the way along called 'diamond hoop earrings'. Smile

saoirse86 · 03/11/2011 13:32

SayItIsntSo just doing a quick google shopping search here there seem to be lots that might be what you're looking for.

Mammonite · 03/11/2011 13:36

my favourite short earrings were some Wright and Teague one, since tragically lost/discontinued but they have quite a few drop earrings on their website. Also alternative looking jewellery from several makers on the Red Direct website here

saoirse86 · 03/11/2011 13:51

CeliaFate I've just realised you probably mean without all the diamonds! Blush What about these or these?

SayItIsntSo What were you thinking of in terms of budget? Also silver, white/yellow/rose gold, platinum, base metal? Are you sensitive to nickel? White pearls or a different colour?

SayItIsntSo · 03/11/2011 17:29

Thanks for all these amazing suggestions! I am not sensitive to nickel, would prefer silver, yellow/white gold or platinum (plated!). I don't suit rose gold. I'm not particularly keen on pearls, but having seen some of the earrings you've linked to, I might become keen on pearls rather quickly.
I would say a budget of maximum £80 if the item is right, but keeping it nearer the £40 mark. I like semi precious stones and also CZ if convincingly done and not too bling.

Msarsebiscuit the black spinel earrings you linked to are quite lovely! Have bookmarked all the sites and shall have a proper look once it's all quietened down tonight. Am getting rather excited [needtogetalifeface].

Maybe have a look at www.dowerandhall.co.uk John Lewis stock quite a few of them.

SayItIsntSo · 03/11/2011 17:55

ooh very pretty ameliagrey!

I do wish that they would show people wearing them so we can work out the exact size and drop on all these earrings (especially as the usual "can't be returned for hygiene reasons" applies).

thanks Smile

Dower and Hall are quite small- that rhymes, eh?

They are about 3 cms long- just over an inch- some a bit longer- they usually give dimensions on their website. Have seen most of them in real life.

If you like silver, and cheaper, I'd also recommend www.kitheath.co.uk or www.lindamacdonald.co.uk]]

for both of these I may not have thr right URL, but the names are correct!
