what shall I wear to get married??

help me help me help me! Getting married in a few weeks (exact date tbc) and i have no idea what to wear!

We're just going to sneak off and do it, so it will just be me, dp, and ds (age 1) so no need for a big meringue, but jeans and jumper isn't quite going to cut it either. I've got a couple of other weddings to go to in December so it would be good to get something i can wear for them too, and was thinking of spending around £250 on the whole outfit.

I usually prefer trousers to skirts but it's hard to look very wedding-y in trousers. Anyway, i am 33, hourglass shaped with big boobs (32gg), 5'4'', and a bit of a mummy tummy to hide, size 12 - 14.

I don't know where to start!

tethers is much better at this - she will undoubtedly be along soon but in the meantime, any ideas on colours? length?
With big norks, you'll be best with v-necked styles. Do you want to show your arms? Heels/flats? Are you going to be in the UK or in sunnier climes?

tethersend · 02/11/2011 16:29

What colours do you like?

tethersend · 02/11/2011 16:30

How about this?

wiggle dress

It would be beautiful on an hourglass shape like yours. I have two - the mad men one and 3/4 bombshell one - and they are fabulous

Cristiane · 02/11/2011 17:24

I notice they also sell boleros and shrugs to match

tethersend · 02/11/2011 17:51

I like that Reiss one, dingdong

This could look amazing.

beela · 02/11/2011 18:58

thank you ladies for getting me started :) I like the hobbs ones.

We will be in the uk, I don't mind showing my arms and am ok in small to medium heels. Colour-wise i usually go for purple / pink / blue, bright or darkbratherbthan pastel, and rarely if ever wear patterns.

Any other thoughts from anyone?

I'm not sure exactly how to do links Confused but it's sounds like you've got a similar figure to me and I tried on this....

while looking at bridesmaids dresses recently and its utterly gorgeous. There is a long version too and several other very similar dresses in different colours. They hang really nicely, don't show your tummy and I managed to squeeze my boobs in (though I'm a 32ff so a bit smaller)!

You could definitely wear it again and just change the accesories. For the wedding you could have a silk wrap or something and then get a bolero/shrug or jacket for other occasions

Monsoon have some lovely bridal dresses that aren't too ott. I'd be tempted to wear white or ivory if I were you so that you do feel a bit bridal even if it's a low key wedding. We had a small registry office wedding and I started out thinking I'd wear a trouser suit but ended up in a really stunning ivory shot silk skirt and fitted bodice style top (from Monsoon). I really don't regret it- it's (hopefully!) the only time you'll ever be a bride so go for it! I didn't have a bouquet or anything, I had a dark red silk scarf and lots of gold bangles and red wedges! It didn't feel too formal but very wedding-y iyswim!!!

So many lovely dresses, thank you. Now all i need is one of you to come with me while i try them on and give me an honest opinion of what they look like on :)
