dd's christening is in december and i am stuck. the high street is so blah!

what do you think?

i'm 5 foot 2, size 10-12, fair skin, dark pixie crop hair, and v short legs.

Looks lovely :) Very stylish. What footwear?

As you say, you will need something to keep warm though I'd have thought in a Church/the winter. Cardi or maybe a wrap to make it more dressy?

Whenisitmysleepytime · 01/11/2011 16:20

I'm not big on shoes so may need some. I have tan heels which could be ok depending on the actually colour of the yellow bits. I also have pretty black pumps but I might need heels due to my ickle legs.

What sort / shape of cardi?

Oh I'm not stylish btw but I'm trying! :)

I am not v stylish, but also trying too! I was lucky enough to have a styling session fairly recent (voucher), they said wear same colour tights and shoes to lengthen legs, so tan shoes & nude tights would do that?

Heels would be good for a fancy do, but it would work with flats too.

Was imagining short and maybe in fancy material...www.marksandspencer.com/Autograph-Angora-Blend-Fluffy-Cardigan/dp/B005LKP8AG?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_54&nodeId=43083030&sr=1-54&qid=1320164776 ? Prob not that colour, and maybe not M&S if you prefer something a bit less mainstream. Mainly to give you warmth, so don't want too much material?

I am not a fan of longer drapy cardis because I am bigger than you, and volume of material doesn't help matters! www.marksandspencer.com/Speziale-Pure-Cashmere-Stripe-Cardigan/dp/B0055ABJF0?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_8&nodeId=43083030&sr=1-8&qid=1320164776

What will your DC be wearing!?!?

Whenisitmysleepytime · 01/11/2011 17:12

Hmm not sure bout either if those cardigans - but then I'm not a great m&s fan.

The dc and dh will be rather casual. We are a family of casual dressers. Dh will do shirt, but not work one, and smart cords. Ds will we're chek shirt and cords and I'm looking for pinafore for dd. (I want to avoid sparkly party dresses for as long as possible!)

Any other ideas? :)

LOL. Sorry I always assume "an occassion" is the perfect excuse to go OTTdress up and assume that everybody thinks the same! Blame the Essex in me :)

Your family ensemble sounds lovely.

I think it just needs to be simple? www.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=57361&vid=1&pid=850499

But hopefully somebody with more idea than me will be along to suggest something more inspired!

Hope the preps for the day (aside from outfits) are going welll.

How about this?

tunnelmaniac · 02/11/2011 11:35

You'll be bloody freezing in that by itself so you should wear black knee boots with a kitten or higher heel in suede or patent, with plain opaque tights - neutral or black (for warmth) as your dress is patterned. Also a black lacy front vest / long sleeved top underneath and some long shiny knotted black beads / pendant. A big pashmina would be ok as well if you don't like long cardis.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 02/11/2011 12:44

Cheers all!
Being the flighty piece that I am I've decided I don't like it anymore. Blush

I think I do need a long sleeve for a start.
