Body shape & long coats - big dilemma!!

I am what a dressmaker once described as 'hollow backed '. Does anyone know what I mean?? I stand really straight. Almost as if I am pushing out my chest, but out and up at the same time and bringing my shoulder blades together at the back. This is not just a posture thing, it's the way I'm set - my knees sort of arch backwards too IYKWIM.

I also have large boobs, which means that I'm a size 14-16 on top, but a 12 for trousers/skits. This is a nightmare combination when you try to buy dresses or, more to the point, coats! I always end up with about half a metre of excess fabric creating a 'hump' on my back, just above the waist. I look like my back is too short or my hips too high. Or I go home with something 2 sizes too large.

This year I'd like to smarten up a bit and decided to invest in a new warm, waterproof and warm coat, but I'd like it to be smartish and 3/4 length - as opposed to the short ski-jacket sporty type I had previously.

I have spent weeks researching coats (including some great MN threads), and going to shops (which I HATE). I have bought and returned 4 so far and I am soooo fed up now. I thought I had found the perfect coat on Sat, but it's gone back today :(. Not keen to buy online (again) as fit is always a problem and then I end up spending a fortune posting things back.

If anybody has a similar body shape to mine, have you found a longer, waterproof jacket/coat that looks remotely flattering?
Or do I have to choose between looking like a sack of potatoes or having a wet bum??!
And if that's the case, which would you choose? Grin
