I bought this dress from Zara after wearing it 2 times it is fraying at the seams - it s made from very light silk
It fit s perfectly (as in not too tight ) but ti s fraying under hte arms and at the hips where you 'bend' when you sit down.
There s 2 holes
it looks terrible and is now unwearable
the seams were not reinforced at all
it s such a light silk I cant repair it
it s les than a months since I bought it - do you think I can return it (have tags and recepit).. am thinking that i knew it was unlined and 'light' when I bought it.
( hate confrontation / returning things)

Yes return it. It's not 'fit for purpose'

dexter73 · 30/10/2011 21:31

I would return but Zara customer services are shite.

theseventhdwarf · 30/10/2011 21:54

yes that s worrying me - the zara near us is horrible for any returns.

A dress should be able go be worn without fraying. Take it back. You can be very polite to shop staff and still be very firm in your request for a refund.

mirpuppet · 30/10/2011 22:21

Good luck. I too don't like confrontation; but in this instance stand firm as you are right -- a dress should not fray within a month.

Somewhat bolstered by responses thank you.
Am off to Zara this week.

I've just returned a dress to Gap today that also started falling apart at the seams after a couple of wears. They apologised, exchanged for another identical one and told me to come back if it happens again. And I didn't have tags or receipt.

You're absolutely right to return!

nothruroad · 31/10/2011 07:15

I returned a top to Zara last month after exactly the same thing happened. They refunded me so quickly it made me wonder if there was a fault with the whole line.

If you're worried use this Direct.gov page. Follow the link, enter your problem and they help you. They helped me get over £100 from a high street shop when I bought something faulty and they tried to wriggle out of refunding me.

Ok went to Zara with my dress- I had it in a bag wrapped in tissue, the bag was full
Of other stuff too - reached in to take out my gloves and somewhere along the way the dress must have fallen out and someone picked it up or something. I retraced my steps for work to Zara 2 times and no luck. Gutted and feeling stoopid!
