I have a couple of jackets that could do with being pinned in at the waist - is it unrealistic to do this myself? How do I do it?

I wouldn't do it yourself unless you are experienced at this sort of thing (jackets are tricky) but I get high street clothes altered all the time. If you're in London, I'll post my tailor's details...

agree with wellwisher that it is difficult to do without any experience. If you were to try, you would need to undo the lining first and then take in the vertical darts.

Personally, I would either go to a tailor or see if there is anyone locally who does alterations (sometimes cheaper than a tailor).

What you are talking about here is tailoring. Not something that a beginner should attmept unless you are one of those amazing sorts who can read/watch youtube and teach yourself.

Some local colleges do short courses in tailoring. It might be worth having a go.

Thanks everyone - nowhere near London - in rural Wales! I was hoping to get them sorted asap - so will need to consult yellow pages or something!
