Urgent - this parka. Will I look like mutton dressed as lamb?

Not a S&B regular, as this post probably reveals...

I have been looking for weeks for a "perfect" parka. I have found this: www.johnlewis.com/277765/Product.aspx.

I'm a 32 year old mum of 2, is this for a trendy teenager? Or will it be OK for park trips and generally messing about with the kids? Feel so clueless these days, used to be reasonably stylish but have somehow slipped into SAHM uniform of jeans and combats and whatever T-shirt is clean and have no idea now what I can reasonably wear.

Hoping to order it tonight, all opinions (and alternative suggestions) welcome.

Looks lovely - I would def go for it. Warm, practical and no michelin man going on.

I think that's fine for going to the park. You can't beat a parka for a hood and decent pockets.

lucymr · 27/10/2011 20:05

I think it's absolutely fine - not too young at all

Love it. But not sure if it will keep you properly dry. On the style front though a big yes from me!

Soups · 27/10/2011 21:20

I really like it :) At 41 I wear something similar.

I'm much much older than you and have a lovely olive parka - a bit more 'styled' (Max Mara) but still an olive parka and I love it, wear it a lot with scarves etc (my favourites are Comptoir des Cotonniers)and definitely don't feel mutton-y in it. IMO parkas are timeless classics now, though not in a boring way. Enjoy !

Love it. I'm 37 and waering my G Star boots as we speak.

PerryCombover · 28/10/2011 09:51

I think if you're happy to stay with your 'style' of jeans/combats and t-shirts then its fine.

Bit young for me (near 40) and I like casual but prefer a bit less scruffy and G-Star too 'young, trendy' and OMG was going to say 'cheap' then saw the price!

Doesn't look like it costs £179, sorry, I think you are paying for the name.

its ok
with your other look you will look liek you are dressed in army surplus though

its only kids - no need for battle dress
