Hunter Wellies

Can another MNer please Help!!

I am going to order a new pair of Hunter wellies for DD.
The last pair were from the shoe shop and were fitted ( but only lasted 6 months, due to DDs feet growing & assistant not allowing room for wellie socks!)
So, i've decided that if i buy DD a pair online then i can buy a size bigger. Hopefully these will last her all winter.

So, my question is, DD is a size 12 1/2 clarks size. What size would you buy?

THX

Why do they have to be Hunter Wellies?
Surely she is likely to grow out of the next pair equally quickly?
Buy cheaper ones that can be replaced without breaking the bank.

The cheaper ones are no good.
We live in the Dales and DD spends alot of time outdoors.
So i want a pair of sturdy wellies that will last.
DD has been known to go through 4 pairs of clarks wellies over the winter months. They are just not upto the job.

if its any help i wear clarks adult size 6 (or sometimes 6.5 in sandals) and my hunters are size 6. they are roomy enough for warm socks but still fit nicely - snugly but not tight iyswim. i am outside a lot and i know what you mean. i would never go back to wearing cheaper wellies. ive had my hunters for a few years and havent personally had any problems with quality

BafangaTheSombre · 27/10/2011 18:38

Fair enough, why not go and try them on in the shop, and then come home and order them online? Smile

tefal · 27/10/2011 18:54

Probably no help with children's sizing but I am 7 in clarks but need an 8 in hunters. 1 to get my foot into them and 2 to give me ample space for wellie socks.

tefal · 27/10/2011 18:55

P.S. I am sure if you search online some places will do free returns so you could order 2 sizes and be sure?

kfitz · 27/10/2011 19:10

You can ask to try them on with welly socks in the shop. Your DD would measure a 12 in start-rite and I would try a 12 and 13 on - most kids can't keep them on if you go up any further. We do have customers who buy 2 sizes up and put their DC in numerous pairs of socks Grin

Hunter wellies are crap these days, since they moved production to China they are thin, freezing cold and split within months of light use. The old ones (with 'Made in Scotland' on the front label) were good quality.

That aside, the two new pairs I had before I gave up on them were true to my normal size with welly socks on.

My dd has hunter wellies and we get her a size up. She does tend to wear thicker socks with them . They are worn most days and at the weekend can be on all day wandering up and down hills and they have lasted fine . In fact her last two pairs now act as guest wellies and are in great condition.

croc wellies are pretty sturdy

muddyvampsters123 · 27/10/2011 20:39

Thank you everyone! Smile ( sorry. it's taken a while to reply, drying DDs hair and doing her supper!)

Yep, i think a trip to the shoe shop tomorrow is in order.Wink

I will take her wellie liners, plus DD wearing thick socks. Grin

I'm open to any other suggestions of good solid wellie boots.
(just to say she's had rydale/clarks/joules/startrite/next, all lasted only a couple of months!!)

DDs last pair of Hunters were great and looked in great condition after 6 months, just too small.

My son is 1 1/2 in clarkes and I have just bought him size 3 neoprene lined hunters and have told him to wear two pairs of socks!!! Works well here!! HTH!

You can get hunters and some gorgeous Ralph Lauren wells (25 quid!) in tx maxx, my dd is too young else I would have bought them!
