Waist length hair on a child - to cut or not?

Daughter has very long thick hair. She loves it, but cannot manage it herself. It is getting more and more difficult the longer it gets - needs lots of prolonged brushing and gets tangled easily. I am loathe to make her cut it, but also resent the care that goes into it. Anyone else have experience of this? She wants to be able to sit on it.

Good idea about the charity - I will keep that in mind when the time comes. I think she would like to do that.

Don't worry, libelulle, my other dds didn't really get much hair until they are 3 (they have my hair genes, poor things, and dd2 has my husband's hair genes)

Not sure about nobody looking good with waist length hair - my dd does. But she is, obviously the most beautiful creature that ever walked the earth! As her picture on my profile will testify. I'm sureyou will all agree......

Yes very nice. I like your horse too. How come your profile says you're 50 and have no kids, when you do?

seeker · 27/10/2011 15:47

Because I forgot to click the button saying I did- and the default position is no kids.

Or I'm a 6'4 trucker from Dagenham living at home with my mum and leading a double life online as a trendy lefty atheist aged middle-class mum of two from Kentand you've just blown my cover.

DrunkenDaisy · 27/10/2011 15:52

You're not 50 though surely? Is that you on the horse?

seeker · 27/10/2011 16:02

no- that's my dd!

DrunkenDaisy · 27/10/2011 16:04

Ok. Well she and the horse look lovely.
