Godmother-to-be christening help! Please?!

I have been asked to be Godmother and I am thrilled! The only thing is, what on earth do I wear? The fact it's winter has thrown me as all my dresses are definite summer dresses. Also, it's taking place during a normal church service too so don't want to look too over or under dressed!
Argh! Please help!

Ah- just seen some other requests for help and see that it is the done thing to provide more info!
Am 5'7, size 12/14 (big post baby tummy to hide!), blonde, and skint! Budget of about £50 really so not much to work with!

How about this with a fake fur jacket?

monkeysmama · 27/10/2011 00:23

That's beautiful! Very luxe and will look special.

That dress is beautiful! Thanks!

The dress is indeed gorgeous.

Having seen lots of christenings at Sunday morning services, I'd personally say putting a fake-fur jacket over it rather than something slightly lower-key might make it a touch OTT (though do love fake fur). But then again if you feel happy in that combo no reason why you shouldn't go for it, because I think generally people tend to assume that christening parties make up their own dress rules, and may be going on to celebrate at a party, etc.

I don't have a fake fur jacket but what else would it go with? Am so clueless! (disclaimer - I am ill!).

Do you have a pretty cropped cardi?

If you haven't you might like to look at the thread a bit above where poster is looking for dress for her D S's christening. The style of dress suggested on that and the knitted dress she bought in the end sound very much on right lines and are the sort of things you'd get a lot more use out of - unless you want a 'dressy' dress that would also be good for parties - in which case the one suggested above would be great .
