There is a georgeous purple on in Fat Face at the moment. It is duck down padded, teflon coated (!)sheepskin lined and with a fake fur hood. I love it but it is £69.
The trouble is I always wonder how to wear one. if I just wear it over a jumper won't my arms get cold if it is in the middle of winter? can I wear it over a coat? I am sure it is worth the money in as much as it's very well made out of top notch materials but how best to wear?
Anyone got one and is it worth it?

I bought a fat face one a couple of years ago, very good quality, have worn it loads and it still looks new, it's very warm and you can remove the hood, I either wear a thin long sleeved tee or a jumper. Have been tempted by the new colours, although they seem expensive mine turned out to be a very good buy.

I love mine, wear it all the time. I have a Crazy Jacks one at the moment but have had Fat Face, Joules, Boden (during my various sizes in life Blush)

Size up for Fat Face.

Big fan of gilets here too - saves money as it means not putting the heating on til later. The teens love theirs as it means no silly coats - they wear theirs over hoodies.

DD2 has a lovely children's Fat face one and DD1 a Debenham's one reduced on Amazon.

Both, especially DD1 where theirs a lot.

I keep trying then on, but I'm a short bodied, big hipped 16 (not a size 12 years or a perfectly proportioned ladies 12 like my DDs).

They look lovely, I look like a quilted hippo Envy

I can't see one at £69, what is it called?

Can you wear one if you are an apple?

Mrsrobertduvallsaysboo · 11/11/2012 18:47

I bought a Ff one last year and never wore it.
I am very tall and slim and felt like a Michelin man.
I mainly wear tunics with boots and skinny jeans, not jumpers, and so it never looked right.

I've just sold it on Ebay!

BeatTheClock · 11/11/2012 18:49

I like them on other people but for me it's either cold (ie coat) or warm (ie no coat). Because I really feel the cold there is no middle ground for me.

Which one are we talking about then? Or does it no longer exist ?

seabuckthorn · 11/11/2012 19:26

I'm still wearing my fat face gilet from about 6 years ago and it looks good as new!

boodles · 11/11/2012 19:46

It is now called the Gemma gilet. I love my gilets and wear them all over the winter over thick jumpers and long sleeved tops. The FF ones are worth the money, I had a good look about before I bought mine. You can get cheaper but you can tell they are cheaper. Infact I think that some of the more expensive ones look cheaper than the FF one. The material is lovely, the sherpa inside is snuggly and they are filled with feather and down so toasty. I am a skinny apple and I think they look fine. Obv they are a bit bulky (like wearing any puffa type item) but they look good IMHO.

MyCatsRule · 11/11/2012 19:51

I haven't got the FF one, but I love my gilet. I wear it round the house and it's very handy to throw on if I'm popping out in the car. Go for it!

carlywurly · 11/11/2012 20:37

I've got the FF one in the cherry red, and the White Stuff one in navy. I wear them both with plain white tops underneath, denim skirts, thick tights and boots.

I can't praise them enough. So cosy, and perfect for inbetweeny weather days. FF used to come up small, but this year's batch are true to size. I size up for WS.

I had never owned one until last year, but they're wardrobe staples for me now. Do it.. Grin
