Country boots

I've just bought a pair of country boots and I don't know how to look after them. Do you need stuff? Dubarry (my boots aren't dubarry because I am a peasant) do a boot care kit, do I need one?

Are they leather? I just wash the mud off mine, let them dry naturally and then use a leather conditioner

Thank you. They are leather, I wasn't sure whether I'd need to put more wax on. I'll google leather conditioner and get some.
