I would suggest either funky flats of boots . I wore mine on Friday with black patterned tights and black knee length boots,looked fab even if i do say so myself.
They were knee length ones, no hotpants here

shorts are really overdone here now (newcastle) when you go out but that happens with a lot of nice things, jeans for example! every bugger wears them but we like them so do we

I just think they look a bit odd. Saw a very slim size 8ish tyoe in Boots wearing them with sequinned sandals (in this weather?!!) and even her in all her stylishness couldn't carry them off
