Leopard print dress - will I look Bet Lynch like??

Got this dress www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33053&storeId=12552&productId=3263213&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=228005&parent_categoryId=226988&pageSize=20

Fits lovely and v flattering on my size 12 curvy/slight pear shape bod. Am only just concerned about whether I will look like Bet Lynch in it, as I've never worn so much leopard print! Was thinking of wearing with black opaques, suede court/wedge heels or maybe even shoe boots and black blazer - help! am scared of looking (whispers) cheap

DH has told me to keep it regardless, he came over all funny when I was trying it on Blush

Yes.

SarahScot · 10/10/2011 20:46

I like it. As long as you keep the rest of the outfit, shoes and accessories plain you won't look like Bet Lynch.

GetOrfMo1Land · 10/10/2011 20:49

If you are blonde - yes.

If you are brunette - no.

I am blonde and look ridiculous in leopard print, thunk it can look very nice though on women with dark hair.

TethHearseEnd · 10/10/2011 20:56

It's lovely, have been recommending that dress to anyone who will listen.

What you're planning to wear with it will be great.

Of course, I'd wear it with black opaques and white stilettos Wink

MooMinCow · 10/10/2011 20:59

getorf - no blond hair or fake tan here - Asian freida pinto skin & hair tones, so hopefully that would counteract the bar maid look Wink

and yes deffo plain, black accessories (and understated jewellery!)

I think it would look very nice then.

I tried on a leopardskin frock once, it immediately made me speak essex.

JulesJules · 10/10/2011 21:02

Agree with Getorf re the blonde/brunette thing.

And I will throw boobs into the mix. Big boobs + leopard print + Bet Lynch. Harsh but true.

If you are not blonde nor too big of boob and wear opaques etc as described I think you will look lovely, and not at all Bettish.

JulesJules · 10/10/2011 21:03

God I type so slowly. Sorry, X-posts.

PerryCombover · 10/10/2011 21:04

so what if you do

go with the retro comedy glam.... red lips, micro fishnets might surprise you

MooMinCow · 10/10/2011 21:04

Tethers - they have it online in a plain deep red too - am v tempted, but is that a bit sad (buying different colours of same dress?) or savvy? (ponders)

I have big boobs and ginger hair and loads of leopard print dresses Grin

GetOrfMo1Land · 10/10/2011 21:05

Yes about the boobs.

And Envy at Frieda Pinto skintone.

TethHearseEnd · 10/10/2011 21:06

If it works, it works- get the red too.

GetOrfMo1Land · 10/10/2011 21:06

I think redheads can do leopard print. But tethers - don't ever wear a union jack mini dress Grin

MooMinCow · 10/10/2011 21:12

Jules - am 32E, but don't think my boobs are out of proportion with the rest of me and I like the higher neckline (again, with the deep V, cleavage flashing bar maid mental image - though I think that's what DH liked about it Grin)

is weird, i would never have worn leopard print 5 years back, but am strangely drawn to it now. have the EBay scarf in brown and grey, skinny belt and pumps now (of course not worn at once!)

JulesJules · 10/10/2011 21:19

Tethers - please wear the union jack dress to work. And post a photo.

MooMinCow I think get both colours

Grin
MooMinCow · 10/10/2011 22:01

Jules - I don't need encouraging Grin

Haven't worn red in ages, in fact I think it was at my wedding 10+ years back!
