Wool / knit dresses that are a bit see through...what underneath?

I have a few lovely dresses that you can see through when the light is shining on them - particularly the legs. I wear a vest top for the top half but what do you do about the bottom half? I wear thick tights and boots but you can still see the outline of my legs.

Does it matter?

Do you wear anything underneath?

Am I over thinking this

I wear a slip like this. It also stops dresses riding up your tights.

Depends how see through. If you are feeling confident then I would just do opaque tights / leggings and a vest. If not, try a slip as above, or a very long line vest.

I 2nd the wearing of a slip, it also makes the dress fall properly and smooths out any lumps and bumps. You can buy 1/2 slips if you are just bothered about the bottom half.

Thank you Smile. I think I like the idea of the half slips or a longer vest.

Nobody commented on the see through (ish) dress yesterday anyway Hmm Grin

M&S have other slips at the moment - there is a really good choice.

H&M do very plain cheap short cotton dresses that are great for this. I think they're about £7.99 or so.

I just go for the opaque tights and vest. I feel like it's no different to wearing leggings. And no one's ever commented, well not to my face anyway!

Tend to go for a slip - usually black.

peppapighastakenovermylife · 13/10/2011 08:45

The only thing that made me question the M&S ones was that every review, although positive, was written by someone my mums age Grin

Am off to investigate H&M or thicker tights. It's not like you can see my underwear but you can see the shape of my legs sometimes. Although this is not good you can still see the shape in jeans.

Can you tell I am practically a dress virgin? Grin

The ones I saw yesterday were a nice striped one - quite see through itself but not "old" looking, one with a little slit at the side and lace top - sort of like a long vest, very pretty and an autograph one with nude silky material at the top and the rest was black - you won't look like a granny when you undress in any of those three.
