dd is being christened in dec. Her godparents are having their ds christened in nov. And we are his godparents IYSWIM. So I need two outfits for these two christenings.

I have nothing formal/ smart casual at all in my wardrobe that fits.
Our christening will be fairly low key - church then pub.
Friends' will be more of a 'do' so more formal.

I'm 30, 5foot 2, size 10-12 pear shape with short legs. I have fair skin, mid brown short cropped hair and nice green eyes. I think I'm what you'd call a cool winter Confused

Please advise me oh stylish ones! :)

Oh and budget is minimal!

Hi

I bought this for my DS's christening later this month & am planning to dress it up with fab shoes & jewellery.

Could you do the same with 2 lots of accessories?

I'm a similar age & shape to you.

The dress is V flattering - especially with some shapewear underneath.

The belt is detachable so you could add a coloured skinny belt & match your shoes/bag?

I am rubbish at this BTW Wink

tethersend · 04/10/2011 17:07

How about:

Navy

Floral

Red

Red again

Whenisitmysleepytime · 04/10/2011 20:17

i don't really think i can do the same outfit as there will be more or less the same crowd at both christenings.

having - i'm not really keen on that next one tbh, just a bit meh to me. (i also don't have decent boobs anymore to fill it.) :(

tethers i like the navy and the last red (although neck might be bit high) but as i'm short i'm guessing they'll be too long
the floral looks too shapeless.
the first red it a nice style but not red, more orange and that's not a good colour for me.

any more suggestions?
are my links way off the mark?

Thanks ladies! :)

I like your pink dress and the navy from tethersend.

How about

camel

red

tunic

tea dress

Whenisitmysleepytime · 04/10/2011 21:24

That's not - thanks for looking. :)
Caramel is not my colour
The red is nice but skirt looks long - even on a petite
The tunic will be too straight up and down (tried similar style from monsoon in summer)
Don't know what the new look one is as it won't load on my iPod.

another monsoon

oasis

oasis sale

oasis purple I should be on commission!

spotty

Whenisitmy no problem, you are saving me shopping for myself when I am skint!

Whenisitmysleepytime · 04/10/2011 21:49

Hmmm
Think I need something with a waist/ definite in and out bit otherwise I look too boxy.
The last two suggestions were pretty good but not loving anything yet.

I'm skint too after paying car tax, getting car bump repaired and needing new glasses. Hence minimal budget.

I hear ya!

shift

warehouse

monochrom

Any better?

Whenisitmysleepytime · 05/10/2011 09:18

The warehouse one is ok but I don't like the high necks. Rink I look taller and less frumpy with a scoop neck, or v. High necks aldine feature in my wardrobe at all I think.

You are good for looking though! :)

Have you tried vero moda, they have lots of dresses and not too expensive though lots are quite short on the models so might make them a good length on you blue or red

lollipoppet · 05/10/2011 09:28

I love love love that black and white phase eight dress! I know it's a bit pricey but it is Su lovely you could just wear it twice!
I also like your pink Dorothy Perkins one, with black opaque tights and black high shoes, be lovely :)

Whenisitmysleepytime · 05/10/2011 09:41

good news everyone! :) i have a tea dress in my wardrobe i can recycle for one of the christenings. it'll look good with navy opaques and some tan heels i have already. Grin

think i might try the pink DP one as it's such a bargain. :)

what to wear on top though? it'll be nov and dec so will need an extra layer.
any ideas?
