I was going to frivol and suggest a kitten-skin stole...

I think that jacket would be fine. Depending on the exact time and nature of the event, a lot of people are likely to still be in office clothes, so something that is basically a suit that looks as if it goes out at night would be my approach.

What kind of reception is it? I've been to a couple on the terrace in the summer and for the last one I wore a black 3/4 length sleeve jacket and then a banana republic black silk dress, I was aiming for an evening workwear look with Mad Men as an inspiration - if that makes any sense ?!

I think the jacket you've linked to will be fine. It's smart and looks as though you've made an effort.

Ive been to a few there too - my darling friend almost got us arrested last time, creeping with staff down to a smokers room!

I wore a knee length monsoon strappy dress.

I lurve that jacket!!!!

ThePosieParker · 04/10/2011 15:47

I have horrid calves.....lbd would be like a nightmare for me!!

I was thinking of trying on that little jacket thing with a suit, I have some fued shoes with a stripey heel.

ThePosieParker · 04/10/2011 17:41

I think trouser suit's on right lines. having been to a lot of these things in the past, would agree with meditrina - lots of people will have come from work so aim for stylish but not at all 'cocktail party' -ish.

wahwahwah · 04/10/2011 18:13

comfy shoes - there are lots of long corridors in there. Check out the bookshelves.

AnnetteProfit · 04/10/2011 18:14

they sell things made of " creepy acetate" on there
hardly exciting

ThePosieParker · 04/10/2011 19:15

Very interested at what you've all done to be doing this so frequently!! Grin

Possibly, I don't have them yet, ordered on line. I may end up getting others. Boots are because I hate my legs.....but I'm really not sure....
