Trousers, muffin-tops, and pear-shaped ladeeez

Ok, I think I'm maybe back down to my normal weight post DS2. I have three pairs of trousers I bought before they fit, which I like. But they are low-rise. Not scary low-rise, but still. I need to wear long shirts with them. And they go lower as I wear them. Without much sitting on the floor etc, I have visible butt cleavage. I do not want visible butt cleavage.

So do I have to stick to high-waisted trousers? Is there any way to tell (particularly online) if trousers will fit well and not do the weird gappy thing in the small of my back? These trousers do it even more than normal trousers. I don't think they'd take a belt, really.

(I am a 16 or so.)

I think I'm actually looking for a recommendation of retailers and styles ... stretch trousers or elasticated waists work fine, but I'd rather not turn into a grandmother overnight ...

get stretch denims - all of the comfort of the old lady syndrome, but better on the style!

also, do get a good large belt (accessorise do some nice plaited leather ones in good colours) to keep your trousers on your hips.

high waisted will only make your lower regions look much bigger according to T+S anyway

get some long tops too, layered tshirts can be good for covering the top of lower waisted trousers

Try River Island - I am converted to them. They do great combat styles with belts. Cream, sand, chocolate, khaki. Generous sizing up to 18 - regular and long!

I'm wearing a different pair of trousers now, and they're annoying me less.

The ones that really hang low ... they only have like three belt loops. So I'm thinking a belt won't do much. Pity, coz they're really cute, otherwise.

I do have reasonably long tops, but really, to prevent butt cleavage when I'm down on the floor with the kids, I need to be wearing tops that go to my knees, pretty much!

I think I'm fleeing to sunny Reading for part of the holidays to hang out with an old friend, maybe I'll try shopping a bit more.

Oh, and I'll look for River Island. Don't think I've been in there.

Next do jeans which are higher rise for £22.

What size do Next stop at?

Years ago, I went into just about every shop and asked, "how big do you go?" but it wasn't very pleasant to do. It was when I had lots of money to spend on work clothes, and couldn't find much nice!

I've often thought about adding belt loops to trousers as they are sometimes a bit stingy. Don't really know how to go about it though!
I'd never been in River Island either - always thought it was a skinny girl shop. Am loving them now though!
I've also been wearing my linen trousers with suede boots. they're quite roomy and flarey and also have the advantage of being a drawstring waist.

I think Next do up to a 20 - but do find some of their stuff is small made.
