If you are thinking about having braces fitted

Can I suggest that you seriously consider the metal brackets. I insisted on the Clarity braces which come with tooth coloured wires because I didn't want them to be obvious (and Invisalign couldn't guarantee a good result). However, 9 months in to treatment I have been fitted with a metal wire as the coated wasn't creating enough friction to move the teeth. It is, in all honesty, a much cleaner, neater look than the coated - plus they are a cheaper option :)

Just thought I'd offer an opinion as it is a subject which comes up regularly on the S&B board :)

My ds had (from the teaching hospital) a 'damon' appliance this involved very fine wires virtually invisible -certainly didnt show up on photos and the wire literally was as thin as fine fuse wire (if anyone is interested I actually have kept the fitting as it would have been 3k and I can photograph them) and within a year his vvv bad misaligned teeth top and bottom are now a smile worth a million bucks.

How did you get the damon braces from a teaching hospital? Would like to get these for son but too expensive.

nickschick I would love to know where the teaching hospital is (please feel free to PM if you feel comfortable) and also would be fascinated to see the wires: I've only heard about Damon appliances today.
