these

For work. I can't do heels, and it's getting too autumnal for ballet pumps.

But I feel like Richard Gere in Chicago. Or a tall Sandi Toksvig. Sad

My legs are too short and stumpy.

What should I get instead?

ArfyrBrain - OMG _ I had an identivcal pair in the 80s - when I was 16....

I used to wear them with leggings and a huge man's shirt and waistcoat.

surely you mean ski pants, that sagged at the knee!?

GColdtimer · 24/09/2011 19:23

That isn't stumpy Envy try 5th nothing and a size 12/10

Truly horrid. Why can't you wear ballet pumps and opaques?

rockinastocking · 24/09/2011 19:27

I do, but they won't be any good in wet weather.

Am Thinking Ahead.

loafers?

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 24/09/2011 19:32

Take them back and get a cheaper and nicer pair in ShoeZone or Primark and spend the rest of your cash on something lovely!

ThatsNotMyBabyBelly · 24/09/2011 19:33

I have these

rockinastocking · 24/09/2011 19:33

Loafers scream 'granny' to me.

The Brogues of Doom were only £25.

They're not even leather.

Those Dolly pumps wouldn't suit me.

I suit big clumpy boots with skinny jeans, and ballet pumps.

Not great for every occasion...

Forest Shit , yy, but I used to cut the stirrup bit off to make leggings :)

rockinastocking · 24/09/2011 19:59

Thank you, purplepidjin!

I like the last two pairs best.

Me too, probably because I have no money and they're the most expensive! I will be watching for the pink ones to turn up in TKMaxx

southeastastra · 24/09/2011 21:04

Yes, You should never buy anything that your not dying to wear!

For autumn, try a simple black loafter, not as closed off, more flattering, with the styles on the high street you can go as daring (leopard print, tassles, bright colours) or as simple (black, grey brown) as you like.

chickydoo · 24/09/2011 22:41

yuck!

BillComptonstrousers · 24/09/2011 22:47

My daughter has those for school, and she is 12. Not sure if that helps or not, but all the kids at school are wearing them!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 24/09/2011 22:54

I bought some brogues for my "school shoes" this year, but I got these:

I only like clumpy.

lollystix · 24/09/2011 22:56

Please take them back - they are hideous

trixymalixy · 24/09/2011 22:58

5'7" is not stumpy!!

I like brogues, bit not keen on this sorry. New Look have some nice leather ones.

HellonHeels · 24/09/2011 23:25
