Cheap but highly-pigmented eyeshadows?

I usually buy MAC but I'm looking to cut down the amount I spend on cosmetics as I'm soon to become a SAHM.

So which inexpensive, high street brands are good? I've had a few experiences with the cheaper brands where you have to apply LOADS to get it to look anything like the colour in the pan, by which time a lot of it has started to fall out all over the cheeks...

I've heard Sleek Makeup from Superdrug are good. Any others?

Cheers!

Hi. Glad you liked them - great aren't they? Think will get my Naturel one out tomorrow and experiment too!

They had a palette called Graphite that had lots of grey shades, but haven't seen a green based one. You can try looking on EBay for older limited edition ones, or wait a while as they always release new palettes every few months?

I can't think of a Sleek palette with a lot of greens to be honest. Although Graphite was similar to Bad Girl, I have it and whilst it's gorgeous I've barely used it. Their limited edition palettes do disappear damn quick. They've done another new one called PDQ which has a gorgeous green in, I think original has one or two greens in as well.

The only negative to the Sleek palettes is how soft they are, I broke of my Storm eyeshadows by dropping it when I was fiddling lol.

Isn't Sunset just glorious to open and look at?

I admit it, I'm a geek who likes to look at the pretty colours lol, I do it with all my palettes :D

Ooh this is good - I need some new eyeshadows and was planning to go on a blitz in Lancome, but I will have a look at these as they come highly recommended.

I haven't been in Superdrug for years - I usually just stick to Boots and Space Nk for make up.

I normally bypass palettes like this as I would just assume they would be crap pigmentation, soglad these come recommended.

AmaraDresden · 28/09/2011 07:53

Getorf, there's some wonderful cheaper eyeshadows out there, just give them a swatch instore and you'll be so pleasantly surprised! I've hardly bought any MAC in such a long time as there are so many options now for less money.

MooMinCow · 28/09/2011 17:58

ooo we made it on the 'MN Swears By' email Grin

AmaraDresden · 29/09/2011 14:35

LOL I was thrilled to see it on there, sleek deserves the recommendation!

YouDoTheMath · 29/09/2011 16:52

Ooh really? Never heard of it but it sounds good!

Thought I'd post a list to the Superdrug website for these incase your local branch doesn't have any:

Wow, thank you for the Sleek recommendations. I usually spend a bomb on Bobbi Brown but actually think these may be better and a tiny fraction of the price Shock. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

MooMinCow · 14/10/2011 17:27

start with the Original or Storm palette Love... the rest will follow Grin

LoveInAColdGrave · 14/10/2011 17:31

Sorry, should have made it clear that I had already picked some up and prefer it to several-times-the-price Bobbi Brown! I have bought the Natural (Nude?) one and love, love, love it. Normally by this time of day my Bobbi Brown kit has had several repairs of the bits alluringly smeared in the outer corners of my eyes... this appears to be glued in place (will it ever come off?). I may well be buying some more colours on the way home.

Deathwatchbeetle · 10/04/2014 06:55

Here you are, plenty of greens here.

Jut go to Amazon Beauty and put in Sleek eyeshadows and scroll down a bit. I think it is on the right hand side.

Ihad to buy most of mine from Amazon as even where I lived in London did not have much of a selection.

MUA & a primer plus setting powder

Botanicbaby · 10/04/2014 12:06

I recommend maybelline's gel-cream shadows, they last all day, stay in place well, easy to apply and remove, good colour range (permanent taupe my favourite) and they don't feel scratchy or heavy. Oh, and a real bargain at around a fiver each. Smile

maybelline eye cream

I couldn't believe how good the MUA eyeshadows were. I only ever used MAC etc before I tried them after recommendations on here
