What can I use to stop static between tights and silk dress?

Won't go with no tights so please don't suggest.

Static between tights and my silk dress means it sticks/rides up. Is there any way to stop this?

spray hairspray on your tights? sure i read that somewhere.

ilove · 23/09/2011 18:31

A slip/petticoat

Neverlandpirate · 23/09/2011 18:32

I agree with the hairspray- I was told to put tights and skirt/dress on and spay hairspray up your skirt so that some spray gets on skirt and some on tights.

An M&S microfibre slip is what you need

titan · 23/09/2011 18:34

I agree hairspray on tights or m&s slip. If you order one online and collect in store you can get the exact length you need. They have quite a big range of lengths but often don't have them all in the shop.

Ok. Will try both. Thought about a slip but I am wondering if the elastic will cause a mark around me dress. Will try M&S. Thanks for the quick responses.

I've also heard that tumble dryer sheets rubbed on your tights work.

To stop the elastic showing get a full slip, not just a skirt one. They come in very useful. Good for wearing with wrap dresses that flap open and show your knickers!

You need anti-static spray - it's marvellous stuff. John Lewis used to stock it, but it doesn't seem to be on their website. Amazon have a selection here.

Havingkittens · 23/09/2011 21:55

Put a tiny safety pin in the hem of the skirt. Apparently the metal combats the static charge.

biological · 23/09/2011 21:58

yup - anti-static spray from john lewis. although was a while ago i had to buy any.

Hand cream, hairspray and Bounce have all worked for me in the past.

But then if it's silk, perhaps not handcream- greasy..
