Thank god for people saying it's normal for pregnancy to have an effect. I'm 28, pregnant and found my first whte hair last week. Plucked the bugger and am hoping no more come to it's funeral Hmm

notsofastmrbond · 22/09/2011 21:43

I'm not even sure what I mean by the term 'going grey'.

I had my hair inspected recently as I had it highlighted at the salon at the technical college and I was declared by the student and the tutor to have 0% gre hairs.

So I guess I was wondering when that would be likely to change - but I think there must be a big difference between first grey hair and being perceived to be going grey?

Early 30's. Am blonde though and thought I was just going blonder Hmm

My mum was 21 though so i did well

lilyliz · 22/09/2011 21:45

I was 17 the first of the siblings to go grey, boo hoo.I now dye it a light blonde as that suits my skin tone better than the dark brown that I was.I blame child birth, always good if you can make the kiddies feel a wee bit guilty ha ha.

GrimmaTheNome · 22/09/2011 21:45

Don't know about my mum as she coloured it... but I have no grey hair at all, its still the same blonde its always been and I'm 50 (smug Grin)

SheepAreSuper · 22/09/2011 22:03

About 19 when I found my first one. I'm very nearly 30 and about 1/4 of my hair is grey. I've dyed it for as long as I can remember so they're only really obvious when it fades. They're such a horrid texture though, all wiry and thick and they stick up from my parting Angry

lubeybooby · 22/09/2011 22:06

about 25 for me. 31 now and when undyed I have probably 2 or 3% grey hair. Just just a few here and there evenly all over. getting roots done every 8 weeks now though so I don't see them

Found my first at ten. It was literally in my pigtail and by the time I was 17 I had two Elvira streaks behind my ears.....long streak on either side.

Now I am 39 and I haven't seen my natural hair since I was 19 or so...my Dad was white haired age 20.

Vizzini · 22/09/2011 22:12

I was definitely wearing a school uniform when I first noticed it, so probably 14/15! It's all at the front to one side but I dye it anyway.

ellmum · 22/09/2011 22:14

I was 22 when I noticed more than just the odd white hair. Am now 36 and probably about 25% white now. I dye it. I dye it every 3 weeks as I am blessed not only with prematurely white hair but also with the quickest growing hair in the world.

Not sure when the first ones came, but have been getting more in the past few years (am 36)

Hulababy · 22/09/2011 22:21

I am 38y and don't have any grey yet.

My mum started to grey in her very early 20s though and my sister, who is 10 years younger than me, has some grey strands.

Mumcentreplus · 22/09/2011 22:51

I had my first grey hair at 14...my dad had a grey patch Rogue stylee@ 19 so it was to be expected, my sisters don't have grey hair and we are all 18 mths apart!!...I have a skinny patch at the front of my hair...

peasandlove · 22/09/2011 22:55

definitely genetics.. my mother and hers went grey in their 30s. I've been getting grey hair since my 20's now about 50% on top at 37

ZacharyQuack · 22/09/2011 23:02

I was 22, Mum was in her 60s.

DD has had a grey hair since she was three.

Genetics, Schmetics.

shelscrape · 22/09/2011 23:06

Started going grey at about 26, developed a rather cool grey streak in my fringe by the time I was 30 .... it then spread and have been colouring my hair ever since. I am now 41 and pretty much completely grey. i am waiting for it to go white or a nicer shade of silver so I can stop colouring it.

NotInTheMood · 22/09/2011 23:31

I read an old article online earliar today asking why more women aged in their 20's are going grey and that this number has dramatically increased in recent years. They referred to these people as GHOSTS or something. I know they say genetics but my parents didn't go grey until their 40's. Is is stress, diet or just that we maybe damaging our hair with too many products?

trixymalixy · 22/09/2011 23:32

30, after the birth of DC1

NotInTheMood · 22/09/2011 23:32

I do not know how to do a link but this is the address www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1368239/Why-todays-women-going-grey-25.html

HoHoLaughingMonster · 22/09/2011 23:43

I'm 35 and have no grey hair yet

HerdOfTinyElephants · 23/09/2011 00:15

I am not grey yet at... umm... late 30s. My father's side of the family goes grey late while my mother's side goes grey early(ish) so I seem to take after the paternal line on this.

Feminine · 23/09/2011 03:03

All my 3 children have 1 lone white hair.

They all have had it almost since birth (I'm guessing?)

I have a few (40 in a couple of weeks) I am not sure if I should blonde them out ,or hit the brown Confused

Found my first at 24.

Bonsoir · 23/09/2011 05:41

I was in my mid-30s when I first got a grey hair. I'm in my mid 40s now and still don't have much grey - max 5%.
